1766 Pitt Halfpenny Token Breen-251 F15+. Choice glossy light to medium chocolate brown with lighter brown toning in protected areas. Smooth and very attractive, close to VF20. The only defect is a spot of very fine carbon under the second E in COMMERCE. Otherwise this piece is flawless and the eye appeal is outstanding for the grade. Listed on page 50 in the "Redbook." 1779 Rhode Island Token Breen-1139, Whitman-1730 NGC XF Details, Bent, Environme. Slightly glossy light chocolate and golden brown mixed with darker olive brown. Fine granularity and shallow black crust show in the fields and protected areas, but overall the eye appeal is rather decent. The "Bent' mentioned by NGC is extremely subtle, virtually undetectable in the slab. The date and legends are complete and clear. Variety struck in brass with VLUETENDE removed. Listed on page 50 in the "Redbook." Estimated Value $200-UP

  Pair of 1788 Massachusetts Half Cents graded VG8. Both are the Ryder 1-B variety. One is from the early die state, the other from a late die state. Both are significantly sharper but lightly corroded and burnished so the devices are shiny copper while the fields and protected areas are dark olive brown. The date and legends on both are complete and clear. Listed on page 59 in the "Redbook." Lot of 2 coins. Estimated Value $100-UP

1788 New Jersey Running Fox Cent Maris 77-dd R2 VF20. Sharpness VF35 but covered with uniform fine to moderate granularity. Medium olive brown. Late die state with strong die cracks on both sides. The date and legends are complete and easily readable, and the "Running Fox" feature is clear. Estimated Value $500-UP

1787 Fugio Cent with Club Rays Newman 4-E Rarity-3 NGC graded AU58. Variety with rounded ends on the rays. Choice frosty light to medium chocolate brown with slightly darker chocolate in the protected areas. Smooth and very attractive. No notable planchet flaws or other defects. A beautiful example in every respect. LDS, Newman die state c. The bottom of the 8 is filled with crumbling and a die crack reaches from the rim to the right side of the O in FUGIO. Struck very slightly off center to K-7.5 leaving the bottom of BU in BUSINESS off the planchet but everything else is strong. Comparable to the best of the 4 Newman plate coins. A premium example of this popular "Redbook" type. Listed on page 88 in the "Redbook." Estimated Value $2,000-UP

1787 Fugio Cent Newman 11-X Rarity 4 VF20. A STATES UNITED variety. Attractive glossy light to medium chocolate brown. The only defect is a small planchet flake void in the field right of the date. LDS with a strong vertical die crack in the rays right of the sun in addition to the earlier cracks on the reverse. This die state is described but not plated in the Newman book on the series, perhaps because it is quite rare. Nicely struck except for the second 7 in the date, which is weak. Listed on page 87 in the "Redbook." Estimated Value $300-UP
