Kennedy, Robert and James (Jimmy) Riddle Hoffa. Robert Kennedy (1925-1968) was the 64th Attorney General, serving under his brother John F. Kennedy from 1961-1964 and then Senator from New York from 1965 until his assassination in 1968, when he was the leading Democratic candidate for the presidency. As Attorney General he pursued organized crime, including mafia kingpins and the Teamsters Union head, Jimmy Hoffa (1913-dissappearance in 1975), and advocated aggressively for Civil Rights. Offered here, a fine signature by Senator Kennedy mere months before to his tragic death. His signature is bold and graces a first day of issue postal card, 3½ x 5½", from the station at Hodgenville, Kentucky, birthplace of Abraham Lincoln, whose image is celebrated in the stamp.

The second autograph is by Labor Union President Jimmy Hoffa, who presided over the International Brotherhood of Teamsters from 1958-1971. Hoffa became involved in organized crime and was eventually convicted of jury tampering, attempted bribery, and fraud in 1964, due in large part to the dogged pursuit by Attorney General Robert Kennedy. In 1971, he was released from prison, and in 1975 he vanished in Detroit. Hoffa's signature appears on a blue envelope 6½ x 3¾", that was never mailed, not a first day cover for the Johnson stamp, nevertheless notarized in Texas on 4/23/74. Estimated Value $600 - 800

1st Issue "George" Magazine Signed by John F. Kennedy Jr. and Cindy Crawford. John F. Kennedy Jr. was a lawyer, an assistant district attorney for New York City for four years, a journalist, and a magazine publisher. He launched "George" magazine in October of 1995 with Michael Berman as a glossy politics and lifestyle magazine. Offered here is the inaugural issue which generated immense publicity in its day, a 280-page edition rivalling the best in the marketplace in targeting an a 18-34 upscale demographic. The cover with Cindy Crawford, tame by today standards, did receive criticism, but the play on George Washington achieved what it set out to do: generate publicity. In July of 1999, Kennedy and his wife died in a plane he was piloting when it crashed on their way to a family wedding. The magazine folded in early 2001. Both JFK Jr. and Cindy Crawford have boldly signed the cover in black and blue felt tip pens. The magazine itself is in fine condition, with only minor evidence of wear at very bottom of the spine. Estimated Value $200 - 250

Seward, William Henry (1801-1872) Secretary of States during a tumultuous time (1861-1869) who earlier served as Governor of New York and United States Senator. Impassioned statesman and vocal opponent of the spread of slavery during the lead up to the Civil War. Seward was considered the most likely candidate as the Republican Presidential Nominee and actually won a majority of delegate votes. But a fear of electibility and delegate flip-flopping saw the nomination go to Abraham Lincoln.
Signed free frank cover, 3 x 5", nicely presented with a vintage engraving matted and framed to 16 x 10". In overall excellent condition. Estimated Value $250 - 300
