Khrushchev, Brezhnev, and Gagarin - Rare Signed Photo. Photo signed by Nikita Khrushchev (1894-1971), Leonid Brezhnev (1906-1982), and the first man in space, Yuri Gagarin (1934-1968). Khrushchev, the Premier of The Soviet Union (1958-1964), was responsible for aggressively backing the early Soviet Space Program. When his party colleagues removed him from power in late 1964, they replaced him with Leonid Brezhnev as General Secretary of the Communist Party and Soviet Union, an office he held for 18 years until his death in 1982. Yuri Gargarin, an accomplished pilot, was the first man in space with his single orbit around the Earth on Vostok 1.

Our black & white photo measures 6 x 8", with Brezhnev signing at top right, Khrushchev (dated 1964) at bottom center below his image, and Gagarin (dated 1966) at center left. Photo is in fine condition, with just three very small emulsion lifts in the white area. The signatures, all signed in fountain pen ink, are bold. The image, taken on May 1, 1961 in Red Square, also includes the likenesses of Soviet leader Dimitri Poljanski, and Communist leader of Mongolia, Yumjaagiyn Tsedenba. Very scarce.
