Lot 1068		[Porcelain]. Decorative Butter Pitcher and Salt and Pepper Shakers. This lot of three porcelain table accessories features a bright red lobster shaped butter boat, and a pair of salt and pepper shakers resembling the Sunday comics' battling couple, "Maggie and Jiggs" (circa 1920s). Lobster is stamped "Royal Bayreuth / Bavaria", with cornflower blue emblem. Shakers are obviously used, however the group is in fine condition overall. Estimated Value $150 - 250. Lot 1069		[Porcelain]. Pair of Handpainted Porcelain Serving Pieces. Here we offer two porcelain serving pieces. The first, a Davis Collamore & Co. decorative plate with scalloped edges featuring an eagle perched atop a leafy branch lavishly handpainted in gold leaf. Diameter: 9¼". The second, a uniquely handpainted, double handled relish dish with opulent iridescent interior, gold leaf handles, and delicate pink rose motif. Manufactured by Rosenthal, the piece has been stamped with their crest, signed by "V. Andersen", and inscribed and dated: "To Mama from Harry & Rose Oct. 8, 1916". Diameter: 4¾". Lot 1070		[Porcelain]. Pair of Porcelain Figurines. Here we offer a pair of porcelain figurines, each with gilt accents. The first, a southern Belle wearing a ruffled dress of mustard yellow bodice and sky blue skirt, accented by a matching green hat. Stamped "Orion China / Made in Occupied Japan". Height: 6½". Representing an 18th century maiden, the second figurine wears a maroon and black dress, with ruffled edges. Stamped with a Meissen trademark. Height: 9". Lot 1071		[Porcelain]. Wavecrest Porcelain Humidor. Wavecrest white glassware humidor. A characteristically "puffy" rectangular canister of creamy white glass, each side features a raised foliate design encircling a handpainted floral arrangement of pink daisies. One side of this jar is labeled "Cigars" in iridescent purple and gold letters. The lid is delicately painted with a Native American male hunting with a bow and arrow, swiftly riding an Appaloosa horse. The key to this locking jar is attached to a fragile chain that accompanies the piece. The Wavecrest trademark appears on the bottom. Height: 6½". Toned, a few minor surface abrasions. Lot 1072		[Spoons]. A Collection of Oriental Collector Spoons. A fascinating group of spoons mostly in sterling, coin, or .800 silver. Many of the spoons feature exotically shaped or artfully crafted handles, from such places as Macau, Hong Kong, Japan, China, and Cambodia. Two of the Chinese spoons are set with jade, while another is decorated with a "pearl" in a cage. Other locales include New Zealand, with a Tiki figure carved in blue-green mother-of-pearl, and Greenland or Finland, picturing a parka-clad figure and a running deer in the gilt bowl. Rounding out the offering is a charming demi-tasse spoon in the Art Nouveau style and finally, an artistic, hand crafted piece in the Arts and Crafts style set with a luminous blue opal. Several spoons have been hand crafted and are quite handsome. A very intriguing lot, worth close inspection and a spirited bid. Estimated Value $150 - 250. Lot 1073		[Spoons]. A Colorful Group of Enameled Spoons. Lot of 11 spoons, mostly silver, featuring enameled scenes on the bowls. Highlighting the group is a set of six German city spoons which displays various views of city landmarks with the city's respective coat of arms on the handle. Rounding out the group are similarly decorated examples from New Zealand, Mexico, Lugano, Leningrad, and California's own Scotty's Castle. Lot 1074		[Spoons]. A Fun Lot of California Spoons. Group of 11 spoons, all sterling but for two. Including two antique examples -- one picturing San Francisco and its points of interest, and another of a more general California scene. Other tourist sites depicted on the spoons include Yosemite Park, Hearst Castle, Avalon Bay, and Carlsbad Caverns. Highlighting this lot is a vintage Disneyland spoon of Sleeping Beauty's castle, copyrighted 1954. Spoons circa 1950s and earlier. Estimated Value $150 - 200. Lot 1075		[Spoons]. Antique Child's Sterling Spoon. Circa 1910-1930. Crafted by Rogers and Company this spoon is fashioned with broad deep bowl and short handle. The handle has been engraved with the text: "Mary had a little lamb." Above this, Mary appears in a short smock and bonnet walking to the left and holding a basket while her charming lamb runs behind her. In choice condition -- albeit only slightly used. Lot 1076		[Spoons]. Collection of United States Silver Commemorative Spoons. A good-sized collection comprised of 34 different spoons, the bulk of which is sterling silver. Spoons are teaspoon or demi-tasse size, some "salt" size. Most pieces feature ornate pictorial handles (a few with pictorial bowls also, or engraved with city names) proudly displaying the attributes, notable sites or events from various states. Numerous states are represented -- ranging from Alaska to Utah. Some pieces are accented with enameling or gilding. Most pieces date to the 1950s or 60s, a few later, many earlier. A fascinating group of American "popular" history, worth a closer inspection -- who can live without a Niagara Falls spoon, not to mention a hand engraved view of New Jersey's Asbury Park on the 4th of July, 1900! Lot 1077		[Spoons]. Colorful Lot of Enameled European Commorative Spoons. Lot of 25 collector's spoons, most in silver -- .800 or sterling. Virtually all featuring colorfully enameled designs, blazons, or coats of arms on handles. Included are two antique spoons of Canada and an attractive commemorative of Queen Victoria, circa 1900. Of note is the more recent spoon of the royal couple of Monaco: Prince Rainier and Princess Grace (probably dating to their 10th Anniversary, circa 1966). Lot 1078		[Spoons]. Commemorative Spoons from Alaska. Pair of spoons of coffee or demi-tasse size. The earliest's handle features a well modeled facing-bust of Indian wearing a feathered headdress topped with a flower. The hand engraved bowl pictures a view of a clapboard building with high mountains in the background. The second piece is a delightful novelty spoon with pick and shovel finial flanking a central mining pan containing gold nuggets. The gilt bowl is engraved, "Wrangel, Alaska." Lot 1079		[Spoons]. Eight Sterling Collector Spoons from the Rocky Mountain State. This lot of Colorado memorabilia is comprised of two early full-sized teaspoons, three smaller teaspoons, and three coffee or demi-tasse spoons. Two spoons are decorated with motifs of the State Flower on the handles while the others picture points of interest -- the three earliest with Pike's Peak and similar mining themes. Lot 1080		[Spoons]. Elegant Set of Religious Silver Spoons. Lot of 7 pieces. This stylish group of sterling silver spoons was likely part of a larger collection dating to the 1960s or 70s. Each is teaspoon size but for the larger spoon bearing the image of Christ (with Chi-Rho emblem). Handles are in the form of a gothic arch with contains the image of the sacred being and bowls each feature different scriptural texts. Spoons in choice condition and quite handsome. Lot 1081		[Spoons]. Group of Canadian Silver Commemorative Spoons. A pleasing little offering of 6 spoons, all in silver but for one which is perhaps the oldest, in gilt sterling. Likewise, all but one decorated with enamelled handles displaying either coats of arms or tourist sites. Of note is one spoon with a colorful blazon of Canada's maple leaves in fall radiance. Lot 1082		[Spoons]. Group of Scandanavian Commemorative Silver Spoons. Lot of 9 pieces. An attractive lot with a number of spoons in a larger, soup (or small ladle) size with several demi-tasse spoons. Most are Norwegian showing a variety of motifs. One spoon features a handle with designs relating to the vivid Viking past, another outlines a detailed map of the country. A third spoon, from Bergen, is crafted of gilt with a finely enamelled handle that demonstrates the elegance for which Scandinavian design is noted -- clearly the most elaborate in the group. Lot 1083		[Spoons]. Large Lot of Fascinating Silver and Commemorative Spoons. Lot of 63 pieces. This large group of spoons contains a wide variety of styles and countries of origin including spoons of both antique and recent date. Spoons range from commemorative, to custom made, to antique service silver. Of antique silver, we offer two different sets of six coffee spoons featuring gilt bowls and the group's two earliest pieces -- a teaspoon and sugar (or condiment) spoon dating from the reign of George III (English, late 18th century). The foreign spoons derive from such exotic locales as Tijuana and Kuala Lumpur. Several pieces are enameled and two spoons are gem set (one with turquoise, American Southwest Indian, about 1930, with swastika motif). Other pieces of interest include a gilt sterling Russian spoon with plique á jour handle; a silver spoon featuring a tropical bird handle carved from luminescent blue mother-of-pearl; a lovely Art Nouveau-style spoon with violet studded handle; and for the ultimate "name dropper" spoon collector, two pieces made by Rolex. Lot 1084		[Spoons]. Ornate Swiss Silver Spoon. This coffee or demi-tasse size spoon of .800 sliver has an ovate bowl and modeled narrow handle enriched with floral arabesques. The handle is topped with two figures sculpted in the round representing both William Tell and his son. Both are dressed in archaic costume with the bearded man holding a large crossbow. Lot 1085		[Spoons]. Small Group of Italian collector Spoons. This decorative lot is comprised of four spoons bearing artistic emblems of two of Italy's major cities: Rome and Venice. The Roman spoon features an eagle within a wreath, atop fasces. A pair of Venician spoons show the lion of St. Mark on one, and the picturesque gondola on the other. The last spoon, from Italy's former colony Ethiopia, and also depicts the lion of St. Mark atop an open work handle. All spoons appear to be silver, two marked "800." Estimated Value $75 - 100. Lot 1086		[Spoons]. Three Numismatic Spoons. The smallest spoon, inspired by Viking art motifs, features a narrow ornamented handle and bowl in the form of a 1741 twenty-four Skilling coin. The next, a Scandinavian spoon with slim handle surmounted with a crown, has a broad, round, scalloped bowl with an imitation 2 Kroner of Sweden's Gustav VI. The final piece, an Austrian spoon, is decorated with an ornate scrolled handle depicting a model of Stephens Kirche, in Vienna. The bowl apparently made from a Maria Theresa Taler restrike. Lot 1087		[Spoons]. Two Antique New York Silver Commemorative Spoons. Two interesting petite spoons with elaborate pictorial handles. The first, from Lake George, proudly proclaims: "Sports and Pleasures of the Mountains" while displaying a rifle, the head of a buck and a leaping salmon, emphasizing the sentiment. The second spoon, a quaint piece of Americana, pictures Niagara Falls, illustrating a seated Indian in profile atop a globe and war club. Both pieces demi-tasse size. The Lake George spoon likely dates to the late 19th century, the companion likely dating to the early 20th century. A recommended, fun pair. Estimated Value $100 - 150. Lot 1088		[Tea Service]. Five Antique Tea and Coffee Vessels from Gorham. Later 19th century. A handsome partial tea service. Included are a teapot, a hot water or coffee pot, a creamer, plus a lidded sugar bowl, along with a similar twin handled bowl. The vessels classically inspired, with raised fluting along their sides, and restrained acanthus ornament at handles and spouts. All hallmarked with Gorham's ensign, and "2590," either pattern or job number. All items initialed, JMR, in flowing cursive script. Along with these, a group of recent flatware pieces by Westmorland -- a total of 46 pieces. Included are butter knives, dinner knives, salad forks, teaspoons, chowder or cream soup spoons, and more. The service is well preserved, the flatware new and unused. Height of coffee pot: 7-3/8". Also four robust, heavy vessels from a Gorham tea service including teapot, creamer, a covered sugar bowl, and similar open bowl. Finely crafted in a lavish Roccoco style, each item of rounded, swelling form, with fluting, and abundant floral swags and arabesques. The handle of the teapot with ivory accents. All items initialed, LJE, in flowing cursive script. Along with these a splendid 22" serving tray in a similar pattern. All hallmarked with Gorham's ensign, and consecutive piece or job number, A2112 to A2115. The tray marked A1139. Over 265 oz. of sterling silver in all. Inspection suggested, but overall fine and attractive material. A splendid example of American conspicuous consumption at the turn of the century! Estimated Value $1,500-UP.
