"Battle of Lexington". A beautiful engraving of the first battle of the Revolutionary War, which took place on April 19th 1775, in Lexington, Massachusetts. Entitled "Battle of Lexington", steel engraving, 19½ x 27½ inches, on wove paper, "E. Tisdale delt. C. Tiebout sculpt.", by artist Elkanah Tisdale and engraved by Cornelius Tiebout. "Published by C. & A. Tiebout, No. 29 Gold Street, New York." The picture features Captain John Parker signaling the Minute Men to fire the "First Shot" at the British soldiers just after Paul Revere's famous historic warning. Light age toning. Otherwise fine.
