Lot 462
Two (2) Porcelain French Empire Lamps. Matched pair of early 20th century porcelain vases fitted in gilt metal with each side decorated with cherubs facing each other standing atop ram's-horned faces, all nicely rendered. The lamps are further decorated with finely hand painted bucolic scenes on the front and peacocks on the opposing side with hand painted gold details of scrolls and crosshatch. The vases rest on gilt wood socles raised on square shaped porcelain and gilt metal pedestals. These lamps are in fine conditon with some wearing of the gold detail under the hand painted scenes, very likely from repeated lifting of the lamps grasping the same area time and again. But not all that noticeable at a minimum distance. Otherwise the robin's egg blue color dominates and the lovely hand painted scenes in excellent condition. From base to cherubs, lamp stands 16" tall with total height of 31" and the base measuring 6" x 6".
