Parrish, Maxfield. Daybreak. Lithograph of Parrish's famed 1922 "Daybreak", oil on panel that was created specifically for reproduction as an art print, 17½" x 20½", The House of Arts, New York, c. 1920s. Housed in the original blue and antique gold frame, to an overall size of 21¼" x 33¼". Slight water rippling and staining at the right lower margin does not effect the hauntingly beautiful print. Very good condition. "Daybreak" was wildly popular when it appeared, prompting Parrish to use classical settings in other works. A beautiful lithograph, ready for display. Parrish (1870-1976) was a world-renowned painter, as well as the most popular illustrator/artist of the first half of the 20th century. In 1936, Time Magazine ranked Parrish as one of the three most popular artists (the other two being Van Gogh and Cézanne) for "expensive color reproductions."
Estimated Value $250 - 350.
