[Tilden, William T.] (1893 -1953) William Tilden II, nicknamed "Big Bill,", was an American tennis player who is often considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time. Tilden was the World No. 1 player for six years from 1920 through 1925. He won 14 Major singles titles including ten Grand Slams, one World Hard Court Championships and three Pro Slams. Tilden also won a record seven US Championships titles. Vintage Napier Sterling Silver Cigarette Case, beautiful hand hammered finish, hinged (tight mechanism- excellent condition) cross bar inside, 3 x 4¼ x ¼ in., "W.T.T. / 2ND" monogram engraved on front cover; presentation salutation engraved on inside front cover "TO BILL FROM JOHNNIE 'THE SPIRITUAL CAPTAIN WHO HAS DEEPLY SHARED YOUR FORTUNES AND MISFORTUNES 1927.' Interesting that Tilden would receive a cigarette case as a gift, for he was not known for being a smoker; he always said that he didn't inhale. In exceptional condition, looks like it was not used or carried very much- quite a handsome case. 4oz. total weight.

[Mallin, Harry] 1921 Middleweight Gold Medal (1892-1969) Harry Mallin was a British boxer, the first man to successfully defend an Olympic boxing title. Mallin was one of the dominant middleweight fighters of his generation. In addition to his Olympic triumphs, he won five British amateur titles and was undefeated in over 300 fights. He was also world champion in the middleweight class between 1920 and 1928. He never lost an amateur bout and never turned professional. He won the gold medal, presented here in the middleweight division, defeating Canadian boxer Georges Prud'Homme in the final. In 1924 he went on to win another gold in the same weight class in boxing at the 1924 Summer Olympics. Beautiful Decorative 14K Gold Medal, 29 gr., 1½ x 1½ in., set with a 10 pt. diamond, attached to the original red white & blue presentation ribbon with pin back and housed in the original presentation box. The front of the medal reads: "INTERNATIONAL SPORTING CLUB OF NEW YORK versus GREAT BRITAIN BOXING CONTEST 1921."The medal back is engraved: "MIDDLE WEIGHT (160 lbs.) WON BY H. MALLIN. 17TH JAN." Lot includes a 1¼ x 1 in., heart shaped, commemorative boxing metal charm. The charm features two raised boxers, commemorating "Great Fight / Corbett & Fitzsimmons / Carson City/March 17, 1897." Overall fine.

5 Boxing Greats, 1 Outlaw: Vintage Signed Photos/Signatures Including Dempsey, Walcott, Baer and Leonard. Six boxing greats in this lot of signed vintage stills. The first is a fantastic double-weight, sepia-toned 8" x 10", vintage original 1925 portrait, of Jack Dempsey. Dempsey was one of the most popular boxers of his generation, held the World Heavyweight Championship from 1919 to 1926 and voted the 6th Greatest Boxer of the 20th Century by AP in 1999. Next, a signed image of Jersey Joe Walcott boldly signed. Walcott was a World Heavyweight Champion and at one time held the record as the oldest ever to hold that title until George Foreman. A Max Baer, Christmas card nicely inscribed to "The little Champ sending loads of hugs" as well as a thank you for his letter and signed "Max" on the inside blank page, a nicely signed card by Sugar Ray Leonard, and a signed 8" x 10" black and white photo while young of Jake La Motta, immortalized in the Martin Scorsese film, RAGING BULL Finally the outlaw - a rare original 8" x 5" photo addressed to the actress Anne Rutherford by boxer Moon Mullins, whose boxing career was short lived. Later, he turned to crime, murdered a man and found himself on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list and ultimately arrested. All pieces in very fine condition.

Muhammad Ali Signed Photo. Fantastic oversigned portrait of Muhammad Ali autographed in the late 1970s. Vintage 8 x 10 re-strike photo signed as Muhammad Ali (Cassius Clay, imprinted in the re-strike's image) but with an original and bold signature signed across trunks in black marker at a later date, "Muhammad Ali". In excellent condition and a wonderful portrait of this boxing legend.

Authentic 1996 Centennial Olympic Games Run Torch, Atlanta, Georgia. Authentic 1996 Olympic Torch for the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games held in Atalanta, Georgia. Made of 22 aluminum reeds, one for each of the Summer Olympic Games held to the date, wrapped in a 3½" gold-plated brass band etched with 1996 Olympic Games logo, Georgia pecan wood for the handles, kiln-dried, stained and finished by Louisville Slugger, the Kentucky-based maker of baseball bats, and finally the base, constructed in three parts that turned on the propylene fuel tank that could burn for up to 45 minutes, adorned with another band etched with the names of the past host cities of The Games. The torch, the tallest in history at 32" and weighing 3½ pounds assembled by the American Meter Company in Erie, Pa., who created over 10,000 torches, one for each of the runners who relayed The Flame. Comes in a handsome custom wood presentation cabinet 40" x 11" x 5" that doubles as a hanging display and a 128 page commemorative hardback book with hundreds of photos and information about the Torch Relay. In superior condition, with scorch marks still visible on aluminum tips.
