Collection of French Infantry, Troop and Marine Badges, Brevets & Medals 1940s-Present. Alexander White III enjoyed a passion for collecting a wide variety of French Militaria. Offered is his collection of badges, brevets, regimental pins medals, embroidered patches and more spanning from the 1940s to present day. Over 225 metal and enameled pieces, over 20 patches, displayed in five riker mounts and a small five-drawer display chest. Spanning decades, the collection contains pieces from the French Foreign Legion, paratrooper divisions, and regimental troop and light infantry badges many recognizing engagement in countries as Morocco, Indochina, Algeria, Chad, Central Africa and more. Also noted, a few pieces including the US relating to The Gulf War. A nice collection representing years to build. Collection can be sent without chest (no value) to minimize shipping charges, a consideration especially for those overseas.

Collection of Vingtage French Optical Equipment, WWII Puteaux SRPI 10 x 60 and Tri-pod. Large WWII era SRPI Puteaux 10 x 60. 15" in length 9" wide and weighing a robust 22 lbs. In overall excellent condition with only minor chipping of white paint around metal edges of eyepieces. But the lenses are clear and bright virtually without scratches and the distance magnification amazing. Adjustments all in working order. Comes in wooden box painted in grey/blue that certainly displays wear having no markings or plates to its contents and weighs just over 10 pounds. Total combined weight approaches 35 pounds. We are including the only tri-pod in the collection with this piece as this how Mr. White had this particular equipment displayed and for use to view downtown LA from his high perch in the hills. Not exactly a secure fit but it worked. Tri-pod is virtually new, likely heavy-duty surveyor's use given the spiked metal feet and comes in its canvas and leather bag with strap and is in near mint condition measuring 41" when legs collapsed extending to almost 60. Shipped in two packages, and due to weight and size buyer to arrange shipping with outside service.

Collection of Vintage Military Equipment, Rare 1938 SOM Telemeter. Extremely rare telemter SOM (Societe d'Optique et Mechanique de Haute Precision) Marine Nationale Model G. 1938 BM stamped October 12, 1938. Beautiful piece of range or distance determination in the field. All optics in very good condition with fantastic brass fittings around distance reader and eye piece and appears to have had more than one coat of grey paint in its long history. Original canvas and leather strap. Telemeter measures 37" length 5" wide at ends and weighs 13½ lbs. It comes in its original, waterproof, custom heavy duty steel case 40" x 6" and weighs just over 16 lbs. for a combined weight of 30 pounds, a consideration if shipping overseas. Only a short fragment of original thick leather carrying strap remains A unique and rare artillery range finder of years past.
Due to weight and size, buyer responsible for outside shipping.

Collection of Military Optical Equipment, Sopelem Binocular Telescope M.267/02. Extremely fine example of this modern binocular telescope made by Sopelem, Model M.267-02 in its original box. Superb heavy duty piece in excellent condition, lenses clear and bright in heavy custom fitted wood box. Piece weighs 12½ pounds and box 10 pounds for a combined weight of about 25 pounds, a consideration if shipping overseas.

Collection of French Military Optical Equipment SOM Spyglass. SOM (Societe d'Optique et Mecanique de Haute Precision) Marine National Longue-Vue Model 1954 spyglass in excellent condition with only minor evidence of use. Non-telescoping and measuring 29" by 3", weighs just over 3 lbs. with brass lens shield and brass ocular adjustments. Comes with its original metal cask, cap affixed by leather straps weighing 7 lbs. for a total combined weight of around 10 lbs. A very nice piece.

Collection of 5 Vintage Military Binoculars From France and Russia. Five different models from various decades. (1.) Huet binoculars 7 x 50 Model 1933 Type 1 porro II in very good condition with excellent clarity and distance magnification, brass body construction fairly scarce. (2) a scarce 1930s Marine Nationale 8 x 30 Type 2 in original metal case, Yellow glass filters can be rotated into place and on optical tubes extenders for shade, in good condition, lenses clear but certainly binoculars show evidence of use. (3) French BBT Krauss 8 x 30 wide view binoculars, brass construction, extremely durable in original thick leather case and strap with extra eye cups and filters under the inside of lid, nice condition. (4) Solid pair of 1940s USSR military field glasses 7 x 50 in original leather case, brad to secure lid to body of case missing. Optical grid in right eye piece one spare snow filter lens in interior snap case, Russian handwriting and text inside lid. (5) A nice pair of Hensoldt Wetzlar 8 x 30 Post WWII era Armee Francais binoculars in leather case. In fine condition with normal evidence of use, lenses clear and bright, leather case excellent.

Collection of Vintage French Military Binoculars Including 1939 Huet Armee De L'Air. Vintage French military binoculars. (1) Rare collector's piece. 1939, WWII Armee De L'Air 7 x 50 Huet binoculars in very good condition. Lenses clear and bright, with optional locking green glass lens covers. Overall in great condition, but certainly paint flecking in smoothly painted areas on ocular tubes and other usual wear given the age. Original leather case certainly exhibits wear, no shoulder strap, and strap to affix lid to securing brad is torn off. Nevertheless very much a collector's piece from the Second World War. (2) From 1951 Huet Paris Trinolux 8 x 30 binoculars, range finder (reticle) in right eye piece, lenses clear and bright, overall, very fine example. (3) Unusual Marine Nationale, 10 x 50, vintage prism assembly in original fitted leather box. (4) From the early 30s likely the oldest binoculars in the collection, a Marine Nationale early WWII 8 x 30 for naval use binoculars. Certainly exhibit wear with rubber eye guards showing signs of deterioration. That said lenses surprisingly clean and clear. Original brass carrying cannister exhibits chipping of its original gray paint throughout closing strap missing. Comes with small leather case of four lens filters.

Collection of French Optical Equipment, Navy Artillery Rare Twin 4 x 24 Model 1960. Offered here is a rare Huet of Paris, Marine Nationale twin 4 x 24 model 1960 made of bronze body with nonferrous white lacquered metal with crosshair grid in the right side sighting, removable dark green lens caps, wrap around face plate and in perfect working order with bright, clean visuals. Weight is 9½ 1bs. for the binoculars with attached base plate. Comes in original wood box, also in excellent condition with brass hardware (chipping of paint from normal use but structurally solid) which measures 13" x 9½" x 7" weighing 5 pounds for a total shipping weigh of 14½ pounds, a consideration if overseas. Superb distance capability.

Collection of Military Optical Equipment, Busch WWII Era German Flakglass. First an, Emil Busch WWII era 10 x 80 binoculars commonly referred to as flakglass used for surveillance, spotting and directional. Looks to have had several layers of white paint at the time. In good working order, adjustment of optical width adjustment very tight sue to base plate which could be adjusted. Normal wear and scratches on black painted surfaces, but lenses quite clean and bright. Forehead rest in very good condition. Distance viewing and clarity very strong. No box. Weight is 15½ pounds a consideration if shipping overseas. The mid-1940s German optical companies had reached a highpoint of design and technical innovation and manufacturing for large-aperture binoculars clearly evident here. Note: for astronomers, these pieces restored have been found to be excellent for use due to their wide field of view which evidently at present has no equal. Collection of French Military Ephemera, Brass Panel Tank Instructions, Gas Mask & Eye Chart. A very rare driver's brass instruction panel removed from a Renault FT-17 light tank which proved to be the most revolutionary and influential tank designs in history with crew in front, engine in back and fully rotating gun turret, all produced circa 1918. Panel has been nicely mounted on wood for presentation instructions are in French and reads something close to The lateral clutches must not be employed for cornering. Engage the foot gently releasing the pedal gradually. Notice very important. Never start the engine while stopped must be launched by hand. In rapid descent do not stay in 1st thru 4th gear Second, a mid-1938 military/civilian issue gas mask in original paper cask. TYPE: T.C. 38 and scarce. Mask is complete but due to its 75+ years the leather surrounding face area is stiff, but all straps attached, and eyepieces intact but again very stiff. Mask measures 12" tall. Original pulp paper container in excellent condition and is 12" by 5". Finally a WWI era French military eye chart in original metal tube. All interesting pieces.

Late 19th Century Richmond Light Infantry Blue Silver Hip Flask. Flat circular form, 4½" in height, The Van Berghs & Co. Buchanan & Sons, engraved with a single soldier at attention in front of the Virginia State Capitol building, lettered "RICHMOND LIGHT INFANTRY BLUES 1789" encircling image, screw cap likely late 19th Century. The Richmond Light Infantry Blues were established in 1789 as a company of voluntary militia. Named for their distinctive blue and white uniforms, the company became the 19th Regiment of Virginia Militia in 1792 and part of the 1st Virginia Regiment in 1851. In 1861, they were detached from the 1st Virginia Regiment and served throughout the Civil War as Company A, 46th Regiment, Virginia Infantry. They rejoined the 1st Virginia Regiment after the close of the war, but were chartered as in independent company in 1877, remaining so until the Spanish-American War. Fine.

Collection of Vintage Military Equipment Mid-Century Wind-Up Time Clock. Extremely fine example of a mid-century Lambert, wind-up military time clock. Arthur Lambert was a celebrated French jeweler and watchmaker from Valenciennes who ventured into industrial/commercial time clocks and all but started a global industry. Here a clock for use by the French Army frim 1961 in excellent working condition, both clock winding keys, with only the most minimum of scratches. Comes in its original, custom wood box also in great condition with just one small chip in paint finish. Inside, instructions printed on plate in French. A nice piece and in excellent condition. Total conmbined weight 22 1bs.

Vintage French Foreign Legion Uniform. 1953 issue French Foreign Legion uniform, Ariel Angers, made in France, cotton, khaki/green, short sleeve jacket with six silver "Legion Etrangére" buttons, 4 pockets and a pair of long pants. The lot includes a lovely vintage, Draoo Paris, 3-color enameled Legion badge, pined to a leather button hanger; a pair of Etrangére navy epaulettes embroidered in green with 3 rank chevrons; a pair of plain black epaulettes with one white stripe; and a tan leather belt with body harness gun holster. Also included is a white cotton, flat top, long neck flap cap, with a black patent visor and strap and Legion buttons. This uniform was one of several styles issued during the Indochina War by the French Foreign Legion. Fine.

Early Hand Painted Japanese Uniform Catalogue. A Japanese revised catalogue of land forces uniforms from the early Meiji period circa 1870's. Many of these designs were patterned after the Union Civil War uniforms. Every page has beautifully hand painted images. The binder is gone. Measures 7¼" x 11".

Two Vintage Engravings of Napoleonic Wars. Two Vintage French engravings " Bataille De Saint George Près Mantoue" engraved by Jean Duplessi-Bertaux after Carle Vernet, printed by Goyer, Paris. Image measures 11½ x 15 inches, full measure 13 x 18½ inches. "(1796)" has been written in ink on the lower bottom border. The picture features a vast array of soldiers in battle; the other engraving of (possibly) the 1812 Battle of Smolensko (the first major battle of the French invasion of Russia), no printed artistic and publishing credits given, image measures: 11½ x 16 inches, full print measures: 16 x 20 inches. The picture features Napoleon commanding his troops in battle. Both items are aged toned. Overall very good+.
