Byrd, Richard E (1888-1957) American naval officer, aviator, and explorer. Typed letter signed ("R.E. Byrd"), on "Byrd Antarctic Expedition" letterhead, one page, 11 x 8½", On Lecture Tour, Dulith, Minnesota, Nov. 22, 1930. To Miss Paris, regretting that he cannot attend a luncheon in Philadelphia. A 1931 typed letter signed to Miss Paris from Paul A. Siple, a member of the expedition, regarding a medal made for him by the Junior Forum of Philadelphia. With a cover commemorating Little America Antarctica signed ("R.E. Byrd"), postmarked from New York City, Feb 19, 1930. Strong bold signatures. Letters age toned, otherwise fine. (lot of 3 items).

Hillary (1919-2008) First human (with his sherpa Ten Norgay) to climb Mount Everest, 5 x 3½" signed photo ("E.P. Hillary"), and a signed business card as High Commissioner for New Zealand.; .Dr. Robert D. Ballard (1942 -) explorer who found the Titanic, two 6 x 4" signed color photos ("R.D. Ballard") and a signed business card as President of the Institute For Exploration. All fine.
