Lot 1035
1794 O-105a, R-6. NGC graded VF-20. Nice old time toning of gunmetal gray and lighter silver accents on the devices. This is a very tough coin to find at all, and after considerable research stands handsomely as the second finest known of this rare later die state. The reverse die cracked severely from the upper left to the lower right side, causing the eagle to not be struck up in areas. Only one higher grade example exists with these cracks, and this one stands alone at VF-20. Some adjustment marks on the reverse as made but these are minor, the die sinking that weakens the eagle is also precisely as this one was struck, and in such a high grade as offered here actually shows considerably more detail than most examples of this rare late die state. First year of issue and incredibly important.
Estimated Value $17,000 - 18,000.
