Lot 10
1793 C-1 R3+ Liberty Cap, Head Left PCGS graded XF45. Very attractive glossy chocolate and darker steel brown with small spots of silvery brown toning in the dentils over STATE, most likely caused by incomplete alloy mixing. No corrosion or verdigris. There are some microscopic planchet chips in the obverse fields (as struck) and a couple small contact marks. The notable marks are a dull nick near the dentils just left of the date and a small pinprick under the B in LIBERTY. Nicely struck EDS, Manley state 1.0. HALF CENT is fully struck and there are no die striations in the field before the portrait. Well centered on the planchet; the border beads are complete around both sides. This piece offers excellent eye appeal, especially for a Head Left Liberty Cap. Our grade is VF30. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label.
Estimated Value $12,000-UP.

Lot 11
1793 C-4 R3 Liberty Cap, Head Left PCGS graded AU53. Choice glossy light to medium chocolate brown with steel brown toning on the highpoints. The surfaces are smooth and the eye appeal of this piece is outstanding. The only marks, and they are trivial, are a small planchet chip (as struck) at the dentils over ER in LIBERTY and a very light rim bruise at NI in UNITED. Nicely struck EDS, Manley state 1.0, before the small lump appears on top of the 7. Struck very slightly off center to K-2 causing weakness in some of the border beads. The reverse is rotated 10 degrees CW. Our grade is VF35. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label.
Estimated Value $15,000-UP.

Lot 12
1793 C-4 R3 Liberty Cap, Head Left F12. Attractive glossy medium chocolate brown. Would rate a slightly higher grade except for a few tiny spots of greenish verdigris scattered around the left half of the reverse. The only notable signs of contact are a light rim bruise right of the lowest curls and an even smaller one under the 3 in the date. MDS, Manley state 2.0. The date and legends are complete and strong, and the designs are nicely centered on the planchet. A decent example of the 1793 Liberty Cap half cent.
Estimated Value $2,500-UP.

Lot 13
1793 C-4 R3 Liberty Cap, Head Left NGC graded VG10. Glossy olive brown with lighter steel brown toning on the devices. The two-tone appearance accents the devices and adds to the eye appeal. No corrosion or verdigris and only a few minor marks. A faint hairline scratch across the lower end of the pole at the bust tip and a small planchet chip at the rim at the top of the cap are the best identifying marks. A minor planchet clip shows just right of the date. The edge lettering in the clipped area is strong, which is proof-positive that the shallow clip was mint-made. MDS, Manley state 2.0, showing a small lump on top of the 7 in the date. The date is strong and the legends are clear. Our grade is VG8.
Estimated Value $3,000-UP.

A minor rim bruise at NI in UNITED is the only notable mark. Otherwise this piece is very nice with excellent eye appeal. Nicely struck LDS, Manley state 3.0, with clear die clashmarks on both sides. The reverse is rotated 20 degrees CCW relative to the normal head-to-foot die orientation. Our grade is VF35 sharpness net VF30. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label.

The obverse is glossy medium brown and steel while the reverse is a darker shade of chocolate brown and steel with frosty lighter reddish brown in protected areas. The only mark is a dull nick on the upper edge of the throat. Otherwise the surfaces are smooth and very nice for the grade. Sharply struck MDS, Manley 2.0 late, showing clearly defined die clashmarks along the profile of Ms Liberty plus crumbling in the dentils over ER in LIBERTY. Our grade is F15. Lot 16
1794 C-9 R2 VG7. The obverse is a bit better while the reverse is slightly weaker thanks to an uneven strike on that side. Rather glossy reddish chocolate brown with lighter steel brown toning on the devices. The surfaces appear smooth to the unaided eye, but a glass reveals traces of microscopic granularity on both sides. No verdigris. A minor rim bruise over OF is the only notable mark. The 94 is strong but the 17 was weakly struck and is faint.
Estimated Value $300-UP.

1797 C-3b R4 Low Head, Lettered Edge VG7. Sharpness VF20 but the surfaces are uneven thanks to several dull dents, mostly near the rims. Traces of shallow pitting can be found on both sides but it is not distracting. Recolored a slightly glossy mix of medium and darker chocolate brown tones. The date is bold, the legends are clear, and the edge lettering is complete (although parts of the letters hang off the edge because they are too tall for the thin planchet).
