Announcing the Death of George Washington. Dated one week after the death of this nations first President, here we offer a newspaper obituary announcing the death of George Washington. Clipped from the December 21, 1799 edition of the Weekly Museum, the column containing the tragic news is framed by the characteristic black boarder used when reporting deaths. Accompanying the article is an honorary medallion featuring the likeness of Washington, with the inscription, "He Is In Glory, The World In Tears". Matted and framed for an overall size of 15 x 19½". Accompanied by a second newspaper accounting of the death, albeit providing greater detail. Also matted and framed for an overall size of 18½ x 23". Both have light staining, but remain in good condition overall.
Estimated Value $250 - 350.
