Outstanding Apollo XI Crew Photo at Launch Complex 39, Aldrin Autographed. This large and evocative official NASA color photograph (20" wide x 15.75" high) shows the three Apollo XI astronauts unveling the dedicatory monument at Kennedy Space Center's historic Launch Complex 39, from where Apollo XI was launched on July 16, 1969 landing on the moon four days later on July 20. Neil Armstrong displays an especially proud smile as he removes an American Flag from the monument, while Aldrin and Collins look on approvingly. Signed below the photo by Buzz Aldrin. The photo laid down on matte board to an overall size of 24" x 20"; the matte board extremities with minor faults; the photo and signature are excellent. Estimated Value $300 - 500

Pair of Apollo XI National Geographic and Westinghouse Awards. 1) A large handsome color photograph from the National Geographic Society on the occasion of the award of the Society's "General Thomas D. White United States Air Force Trophy" for outstanding contributions to American aerospace progress. In this photo, Aldrin and Collins, with Thomas Paine accepting for Armstrong, receive their personal, smaller size versions of the award, with Air Force Secretary Seamans looking on. Overall size 23.75" wide by 17.5" high, the photo in excellent condition. 2) A rarely seen poster with salutation from Westinghouse to NASA and Apollo XI, showing a still photo of the planting of the USA flag on the moon's surface, this from a live television transmission shown to the world as it happened, using Westinghouse TV cameras. Overall size is 20.5" wide by 27.5" high; this very rare poster with laminated framing, ready for hanging and display. Both ex-Buzz Aldrin collection of Apollo XI awards and gifts. A large and impressive custom made wood framed award, the center in silver and black, from Pinellas County, Florida and its cities, the citation named to "Colonel Edwin E. *When Buzz Aldrin decided to sell the collection of Apollo XI and other space related memorabilia he acquired, by award or gift, as a result of his history making Moon Landing on July 20, 1969, all of the items first were sent to the Smithsonian Institution in Washigton, D.C., so pieces from Aldrin's collection could be selected for the national museum's collection. The balance was returned to Aldrin, often with small gummed yellow or blue inventory tags attached. Over time these tags have come to be considered a pedigree and authentication for much of Aldrin's space memorabilia that has come to the collector market. Estimated Value $250 - 350

1969, Apollo 11 Lunar Plaque, Made From the Original Negative. The original Apollo 11 stainless steel plaque (c. 9x7.5") is affixed to the Eagle's ladder. This aluminum plaque (3x2.5") was made by NASA from the same negative using the same photo etching process as the one on the LM. ALSO INCLUDES 1" square FLOWN Kapton foil. Includes a consignor's handwritten and signed COA that reads in part: "This small Apollo 11 plaque was made from the master negative. This same negative was used to produce the plaque left on the lunar surface." No more than 200 of these small plaques were made and given to NASA employees and most likely have been lost over the years. Estimated Value $250 - 300

Apollo 11, 1969, Lunar Flag "Tie-Down" Strap (about 13") This clear plastic strap was the only one saved by the consignor after being used to tie-down the US Flag that eventually ended up being planted on the lunar surface during Apollo 11. Included is the consignor's COA picturing four men (including the consignor) doing the actual tie-down as immortalized on NASA 8x10" color photo No. S-69-38778. The original NASA photo included with the adjacent flag lot. These two lots really belong together as they are both part of the same story - one of the most riveting stories to come out of the Apollo 11 flight. Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500
