Lot 881		Apollo 1, 1967, original "Apollo Flight Crew Emblem" Crew Patch (3.5"). This is one of the genuine "official" crew patches as given to Deke Slayton in his official capacity as Director of Flight Crew Operations by Apollo 1 crew member Gus Grissom prior to the fire in which the crew lost their lives. Included is a copy of two notes (originals on file) found with the patches in Slayton's estate. One is of a NASA card reading: "Item: Apollo Flight Crew Emblem: (Part No ACS 204/Date Sept 19/1966/Quantity: 15/Aug 1966" with two official handstamps. Lot 882		Apollo 1, 1967, Ed White & Roger Chaffee Original Name Tags. Two embroidered name tags (5x2.25") for Apollo 1 mission. Tags with white borders, round edges and embroidered with astronaut's name. NASA ordered these for possible use on the crew's spacesuits. They are an early version that was later changed before the mission to tags without white borders. Fine condition and seldom seen. R&R COA. Lot 883		Apollo 1, 1967, Flammability Test Teflon Lacing & Kapton Coated Wire Mounted on a Descriptive COA. Following the Apollo1 fire on 1/27/67, a series of flammability tests were conducted in the CM Boilerplate chambers. The Teflon Lacing and Kapton coated wire were two of the fire resistant materials listed and then incorporated in the Apollo CM and LM spacecraft. These samples were from the original batch, some of which was used for testing. Both of two wire samples are 5" long and are affixed to the COA by the lacing.
