Recollected Moments inscribed "For Dick" and dated "10-30-72" (An Exhibition organized by the San Francisco Museum of Art; Ansel Adams. Singular Images (Dobbs Ferry, New York: Morgan Press,1974); and The Tetons and the Yellowstone (Redwood City, CA, 5 Associates, 1970). The slipsheet for this prints reads: "Once you have entered the mountains, you will look forward to each successive return, as one looks forward to a return home, for you are returning to the clean, simple world in which the race was born and which your remote ancestors grew to fit and came to love." Vintage gelatin silver print made from a glass plate negative (2-GP-105) taken on a Sierra Club outing into the Kern-Kaweah/ Mt. Whitney region of the Sierra Nevada in the summer of 1927. Unsigned. Adams' negative numbering system indicates that the negative was 6½" x 8½", and that this may have been a contact print. This is probably a sample print Adams made from which to generate orders from club members who were on the outing. Matted to 13" x 15". With COA from The Ansel Adams Gallery. Vintage gelatin silver print made from a glass plate negative (2-GP-105) taken on a Sierra Club outing into the Kern-Kaweah/ Mt. Whitney region of the Sierra Nevada in the summer of 1927. This print was discovered with a group of photographs verifiably made on this trip, on which reaching the summit of Mount Whitney was a prime objective. Adams, Ansel. Sally Keyes Lake. Print size: 7½" x 5½". Mount size: 12" x 9¾". Print date: c. 1929. Signed "Ansel E. Adams" in pencil at lower right. Vintage gelatin silver print made on a Sierra Club outing in 1929 that trekked from Huntington Lake up the San Joaquin River along the John Muir Trail ending at Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park. Sally Keyes Lake is on a tributary to the San Joaquin River southwest of Humphey Basin. The inclusion of bathers in the image is generally unusual for Adams, but here contribute to the sense of an idyllic mountain experience. Matted to 14" x 11". With COA from The Ansel Adams Gallery. Maurice Seymour. Sally Rand. Four 8 x 10 in. photos of burlesque dancer and actress Sally Rand performing a balloon bubble dance. All have "Maurice Seymour Chicago" in the plate and large stamp on the back; one is cropped for newspaper use and has glue remnants on back. With a fifth Paramount publicity phto of Miss Rand performing a fan dance. Overall very good. "Maurice Seymour" was actually two brothers: Maurice (1900-93) and Seymour (1902-95) Zeldman, who came to Chicago from Russia in 1920. They opened a photography studio and specialized in film, theatre, and radio stars, international ballet stars (including the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo), and others. Estimated Value $100 - 150
