"The Birth of a Nation" Souvenir Program. 9½ x 12 in., copyright 1916, for D.W. Griffith's 1915 silent film which chronicles the Civil War through Reconstruction and the emergence of the Ku Klux Klan, based on the novel and play "The Clansman," by Thomas Dixon, Jr. Griffith co-wrote the screenplay and the film, which was released on February 8, 1915. "The Birth of a Nation," was the very first motion picture screened in the White House by President Woodrow Wilson, a segregationist from Virginia.

Original stone lithograph of a stock magic poster by famed German lithographer, Adolph Friedländer (1851-1904), who produced posters for artists, magicians, and circus and vaudeville performers. 25½" x 33½". Linen backed. At lower left is: "Lith. Adolph Friedländer Hamburg"; the number "359" is below. Some scattered foxing, primarily in blank borders and a few small, closed tears in upper blank area; lower left tip is missing and some wear visible at extreme edges. A lovely, vintage poster. Mae West Poster For "Klondike Annie". Cardstock poster, 1936, Paramount Pictures, 22 x 28½ in.; framed to 29 x 35½ in. Victor McLaglen starred with Mae West. Eight minutes of the film had to be deleted before it was approved by the censors. Good condition; two small holes in background, some creasing, a scratch in McLaglen's name, and a small piece missing from right margin. Estimated Value $400 - 600
