Austria SCWPM# 134a, 2.1.1953 500 Schilling. PCGS Gem New 65PPQ. Many of the high grade World notes in this sale are from a collection that was formed in the 1940s, '50s and '60s, by an astute collector who obtained many of these scarcer notes at the time of issue from banks, government central banks, and dealers. He particularly sought higher denomination notes, and his foresight has paid off as many of these notes are seldom seen (if not unheard of) in high grades. This is a spectacular example of this issue, with bold colors and inks, terrific paper quality, and outstanding eye appeal.

Lot 5549
Denmark SCWPM# 38i, 1953 50 Kroner. PCGS Gem New 66PPQ. This is the first of two consecutive examples that were saved at the time of issue. It is perhaps the finest example in existence of not only the 1953 issue, but the entire design type from 1944 to 1954. Not a single additional uncirculated example has been graded by either PCGS or PMG of any of the Pick #38 subvarieties, making this by far the finest graded by either service. It possesses flawless paper surfaces, complete originality, ample margins, and incredible eye appeal. The Krause catalog lists a value of $1900 in "uncirculated" for this note, however we suspect that this valuation will prove to be very conservative for a high grade certified note that knows no equal.
Estimated Value $2,000 - 3,000.

This is the single finest 100 Kroner note of all of the 1944 to 1960 series graded by PCGS Currency to date. It is consecutively serial numbered to the note offered next, and it actually falls second in numerical order although being higher grade. The Krause Standard Catalog gives a value of $500 in "UNC" for this note; expect a more healthy realization when the hammer falls with collectors and dealers alike recognizing that high grade certified examples command a premium in today's market.
