1851 N-34 R4 VF35. Slightly sharper but there are a few faint scratches at the date. Glossy light olive and chocolate brown fading to darker olive brown in protected areas. The only other mark is a tiny spot of reddish verdigris nestled between the lower left points of star 5. LDS, die state b. A decent example of this tough variety struck from severely blunted dies.

1851 N-35 R5+ F12+. Slightly sharper but there is a light scratch from the throat to the dentils above star 1 plus a couple more above and below ON in ONE, all blending into the natural toning. Glossy chocolate and steel with slightly lighter highpoints on the reverse from a very light cleaning. MDS. The attribution points are clear and there are no rim cuds visible on the reverse.

1855 N-4 R1 Upright 55. PCGS graded MS-64 Red CAC Approved. Bright original mint red with highly lustrous surfaces, at least 90% of the original red color remaining. The only breaks in the bright red color are a subtle swipe of steel brown toning on the cheek and hints of similar light steel toning on the highest points of the wreath. The best identifying marks are a tiny tick on the upper edge of the ear and a microscopic speck of dark steel toning near the dentils over the left edge of the O in OF. Nicely struck EDS, die state a, prior to any die cracks or rim cud breaks on the reverse. Our grade is consistent with the slab grade.

1856 N-22 R5 Italic 5 VF20. Very slightly sharper with a very light scratch from the chin to the bottom of star 4. Otherwise the surfaces are smooth and attractive with only minor contact marks consistent with the grade. Glossy light olive and steel brown with subtle overtones of light bluish steel and sea green. A decent example of this very tough variety.
