Typed Letter Signed, on personal stationery, 6¾ x 6¾, Chicago, Nov. 11, 1954. To the Chairman of the Montana State Democratic Committee expressing shock at "the degeneration of the Republican campaign in the last weeks…." Ted Kennedy. Powerful longtime Massachusetts senator. Photo Inscribed and Signed, "Best Wishes--Ted Kennedy '85", 10 x 8 in. Hubert Humphrey, Jr. Vice President under Lyndon B. Johnson. Photo Inscribed and Signed "To Lynn Donnenschein - with best wishes Hubert Humphrey," 10 x 8". Walter Mondale. Vice President under Jimmy Carter. Photo Signed, 10 x 8 in. All four items fine.

Kennedy, Robert (1925-68) U.S. Attorney General, U.S. Senator, brother of John F. Kennedy; he was assassinated by Sirhan Sirhan. Typed Letter Signed ("Bob") as Attorney General, one page, 9 x 7 inches, November 16, 1964. To Dr. Janet Travell (1901-97) who was White House Physician during the Kennedy and Johnson administrations, "On November 22 at 9:00 AM, Mass will be celebrated at St. Matthews Cathedral, Washington, in memory of President Kennedy. I wanted you to know in case you might like to attend." Dr. Travell was a pioneer in the treatment of myofascial pain and she aided JFK for this and other ailments which threatened to cut short his career in 1955. In gratitude for her help, he named her White House Physician.

Fullbright, Carl Hayden, Lister Hill, Mike Monroney, Thomas Kuchel, George Smathers, Everett Dirksen, Warren Magnuson, Margaret Chase Smith, Clifford Case, Thomas Dodd, Richard Hughes, Herman Talmadge, Strom Thurmond. All were obtained in 1968. All fine.

Spinner, Francis E (1802-90) American politican appointed by President Lincoln as Treasurer of the United States (1861-75); he was the first federal administrator to hire women. Two Autograph Letters Signed ("F.E. Spinner"), one page each, 8 x 5 in., Jacksonville, Florida, 1875 and 1876. Responding to requests for Spinner's inimitable autograph, which he developed to prevent counterfeiting. Minor ink brushing in one letter, else fine.

Group of approximately 35 Cards Signed in the late 19th century by a variety of statesmen, including vice presidents, cabinet members, a Supreme Court justice, governors, senators, an artist, a few authors, and a member of the jury that tried Guiteau for Garfield's assassination. ranging from 2 x 3¼ in. to 2¾ x 4½ in. Signatures include: Augustin St. Gaudens, J.C. Frémont, Hannibal Hamlin, Charles Dawes, Robert Lincoln (2), Charles Francis Adams, Charles E. Hughes, Cassius Marcellus Clay, John Hay, Afred E. Smith, Hamilton Fish, George Boutwell, C.A. Dana, Thomas A. Langley (one of the Guiteau jurors). Some cards are dated; light toning but overall fine. The remainder of the cards seem to be state politicians, etc., but are worth examining.
