1862. PCGS graded Proof 64 Deep Cameo CAC Approved. A stunning deep cameo specimen with lovely delicate golden toning. Only 35 Proofs struck. The strike is bold on this deep cameo Indian gold dollar, with a full feather veins and puffs and a strong LIBERTY on the headband. (A touch of softness often shows at the tops of a couple of headdress feathers and the lowest hair curl, but this isn’t the case here.) Best of all, the color is a flaming, deep sunset-orange of the most delectable appearance. No carbon spots present, although a couple of tiny obverse streaks can be seen under a loupe near the rim below Liberty’s chin. Pop 2; 2 finer in 65 (PCGS # 97612) .

1885. NGC graded MS-67. Star DPL. Fully struck and an absolutely superb light golden gem. Ony 11,156 struck. This issue ranks among the important condition rarities in the Type 3 Gold Dollar series, from a modest mintage, the present specimen is the single finest 1885 Gold Dollar that NGC has ever certified with the Star and DPL designation. This gorgeous piece presents brilliant and highly mirrored yellow-gold frost, accented by delicious frosted devices. Everything is boldly detailed with the sole caveat that some of the rim dentils on either side are merged together where they failed to evenly fill the die recesses. Even the most demanding connoisseur will appreciate this Superb piece. Pop 1; none finer.

1887. PCGS graded Proof 66 Cameo. A stunning Gem cameo Proof with glittering uniform reddish-golden toning on both sides. Only 1,043 struck. High in the Condition Census for this late-issue and rare Proof gold dollar issue, this is the one of the most beautiful survivors that we have ever offered. Both sides alternate between vivid gold and the aforementioned reddish-gold colors as the viewer gently tilts the coin under a light. At all angles, however, you get bold cameo contrast between frosted devices and the deeply reflecting fields. Fully struck and virtually blemish free. This coin worth inclusion in a specialized collection of gold Proofs or in a numismatic investment portfolio. Pop 4; 2 in in 67 (PCGS # 87637) .
