The Educational series Silver Certificates from 1896 have long been considered the zenith of American currency engraving art. This Ace is boldly embossed, fully original, and displays flawless surfaces. It is the "A" plate position note, and as the top note in the sheet it has extra border at the top that deceives the viewer's centering perception as the bottom margins are quite ample. Although a couple of light folds are present and limit the technical numerical grade to About New, the "look" of the note is far better. A pleasing example that is worth a second look. This lovely, well margined "Black Back" Silver Certificate has beautiful colors, bold inks, and tremendous eye appeal for the grade. It has the "look" of an XF or even better, although some well-concealed vertical folds limit the technical grade.
