Silver Certificates - Large

Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 2566
1886, $1 Silver Certificate. PCGS Choice About New 58PPQ. Fr-217. . KL-31. This lovely Martha Washington Silver Certificate has margins and centering that would support a Gem New grade, and the paper is as fresh as can be with bold embossing, terrific colors and originality, and all the eye appeal in the world. It unfortunately has a single light center bend, which limits the technical numeric grade. Notes like this usually command a premium, so don't be surprised if the final bidding reaches a level more commensurate with a "63" or "64" grade than for an AU.
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500.

Lot 2573
1896, $1 Silver Certificate. PCGS Choice About New 58PPQ. Fr-224. . KL-38. A splendid Educational Ace from the "A" plate position with a resulting oversized top margin, this piece would easily grade much higher if not for a single light fold. Many "AU58PPqs" often sell for more than a "63" or even "64" graded note, simply because the eye appeal on well-centered notes such as this one is superior to those with higher technical grades.
Estimated Value $1,200 - 1,500.
