1934-D Liberty Walking Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-66. A frosty mostly white coin. It is a major undertaking to find 1934-D in this outstanding condition. Lot 1610
1936 Liberty Walking Half Dollar. NGC graded Proof 66. Lovely golden toning on both sides. 3,901 Proofs struck. Fresh appearing throughout with glittering surfaces, there are no impairments on either side to hamper the sterling Proof 66 quality. Furthermore, it is important to note that the pressure transmitted from the die to the blank left sharp devices on either side, making this the quintessential Gem Proof 1936 Half Dollar, a date almost legendary in the Walking Liberty series. The original toning increases the beauty and appearance here.

Collector temperament in the rare coin market swings like a pendulum, moving first in one direction then back the other. For more than a decade in the 1960s and 1970s, toning was "out" with the collecting community. Bright and shiny coins were preferred which resulted in many lovely toned Proofs such as this being dipped, often times with sad results. Today, Natural surfaces and color rule the roost; and, if history is any guide, toning will continue to bring the bidders out of the woodwork for the forseeable future. Buy this delightful toned Proof and catch the swing: pristine surfaces plus attractive toning. Pop 304; 84 finer.
