Rare Leo Tolstoy Inscribed Visiting Card (1828-1910) Russian Novelist, authored the epics War and Peace (1865-9) and Anna Karenina (1873-7). Inscribed Visiting Card Signed. 3½ x 2", on cream card stock. Inscribed and signed in pencil, "Please leave a word to the porter as to when I can find [you] at home tomorrow or Monday. Yours truly Tolstoy" above and below the author's printed name, which is in French, "Comte Léon L. Tolstoy," which suggests that Tolstoy used this calling card while he was abroad. Exhibits some minor soiling from handling. Very few Tolstoy signed cards exist.

Superb Content Inscribed Toulouse-Lautrec Visiting Card (1864-1901) French Artist and Illustrator. Inscribed Visiting Card Signed. 3½ x 2", on cream card stock. With a lengthy inscription which begins above the famous artist's printed name, and continues on the verso: "Dear Sir Would you give to the porter the lithograph that you have from me. It is to make a reproduction in French Artmade by Alexandre and me… I will give it back to you in four days …T Lautrec."

Trotsky, Leon (1879-1940) Russian Communist Leader and Revolutionary. Inscribed Visiting Card Initialed. 2 3/4 x 2", on cream card stock. A visiting card from late in the revolutionary's career, with Trotsky's printed address given as "Coyoacan Mexique." Trotsky has inscribed the card on the verso in French, in light blue ink: "Mr. Thième I wish you a good and happy new year… and a long life. Trotsky." The last line of the inscription is faint, and Trotsky's signature, which appears between the penultimate and the last line of text, is so badly faded as to be almost illegible. Nonetheless, so few of these exist as to make this example quite desirable.

Villa, Pancho (1877-1923) Mexican Revolutionary and General. Inscribed Visiting Card. 3-3/4 x 2¼", on manilla card stock. Dated "April 7, 1909" beneath the printed address, "Cumpas, Son.[ora]" with an intriguing inscription in Spanish which begins on the verso and continues onto the recto above and below Pancho Villa's printed name, "Francisco F. Villa." The Generalissimo's note reads: (translated from Spanish)"The three doormen are on their way over with the objective of looking at properties… I was permitted to send them to you… Have them provide you with an example of the necessary information./ to Mr. Manuel B. Quiroga/ April 7, 1909". Exhibits several creases, with the extreme upper right tip being lost, probably where this corner had once been folded.
