Great Britain, 1951, "Experimental Postal Rocket Flight" Cover. With a narrow, rectangular boxed handstamped cachet on the face (2x) - one with an additional 19 November 1951 date handstamp. A rare flight made on the 50th Anniversary of the Saunders-Roe company in England by Chief Engineer M. J. Brenna. 1996 E-Z cat. No. XY15C1, cat. $50.

Great Britain, 1957, "SR 53" Flown Cover (No. 1 of 6) This 5.5x4.5" cover has a 21 May, Cowes, Isle of Wight machine cancel and a 16 May "First Flight, SR53 Rocket Jet" handstamped cachet. The cover is signed by John Book, Chief Test Pilot on the face and numbered/signed by J. Wotherspoon on the reverse. In addition, there is a two line black handstamp: "From the Harry A. Gordon Collection / Authenticated by H. G. I. Stamp Co. N. Y." on the reverse. Original newspaper clippings are enclosed that say the SR53's potential top speed exceeded the strength of its metalurgy. A rare cover we have not seen before. 1996 E-Z catalog No. XX15C1, cat. $250.

Holland, 1937//1948, Balloon Flight Covers. Lot of five different with a variety of markings. Included are covers/cards flown on the 1937 Ijsselmonde (E-Z No. 20C1. Only 9 flown) flight, the 1945 Zandwort (E-z No. 31C1, C1a. Only 70 cards flown) flight, the 1947 Kethel (E-Z No. 60C1 (only 23 covers flown) flight, etc. ALSO included is a 1935 Belgian flown cover (E-X No. 1C1. Only 197 covers flown) as well as a Belgian mint single with red/pink overprint and a similar tete-beche pair with blue overprint from the second Belgian flight (E-Z No. 2A1, 2B1). An attractive lot. 1996 E-Z cat value = $1200+.

United States, 1904, McConnellsville, NY Rocket Flight Mint Cover. With embossed 2c pink stamp on an amber envelope. The cachet was prepared by C. C. Phelps. Only one flown cover is recorded from this flight. Unflown covers are in recorded as without stamps and with printed stamp varieties. This is the earliest rocket mail cover listed in the E-Z rocket mail catalog. Pristine condition and a major rarity. E-Z No. OD1, 1996 cat. $1200.

United States, 1935, Cleveland, Ohio Rocket Flight Cover. This larger size cover has a Cleveland Rocket Society cornercard, a handstamped blue flight cachet and a manuscript notation "1935 Test Firing" at the lower left. No covers were flown on this flight. Scarce. E-Z No.4C1, 1996 cat. $400.

ICBM MX MissileWarhead, 1986, FLOWN Heatshield (1x.5") A metal letter opener with a clear lucite handle in which is inclosed the piece of flown heatshield, labeled: "AVCO Systems Division / Actual specimen of Ablative Heat Shield recovered from the First U.S. ICBM Low Angle Re-Entry Vehicle".
This system was flown on the W-87, a higher yield Mod 1 for use on the now cancelled single warhead Small ICBM (SICBM or Midgetman) that was begun in November 1987, but placed on hold in July 1988.The DOE began a life-extension program for W-87 in September 1987. The program was intended to extend the life of the warhead to 2020. The letter opener is in its original white box. Scarce.
