Medal. Italy, Papal States. 1867 Cross of Mentana. Issued on 14 November 1867 by Pope Pius IX to commemorate the Battle of Mentana on 3 November 1867 and to award forces consisting of 3,000 Pontifical troops and a Corps of 2,000 French who defeated Garibaldi's attempt to take Rome. Cupro-nickel version, 49mm x 42mm, for non-commissioned officers and men. Vernon-42. Very Fine on an old watered ribbon, now faded with age. Very Scarce.

Medal. Italy. Kingdom. Order of the Crown. Established 1860, obsolete 1946. Neck Badge of a Commander in gold and multi-color enamels, vintage WW I-WW II. 55mm x 51mm, not including cravat loop. Werlich-738/739; Vernon-165. On original wide neck cravat, 48mm. One very tiny enamel flake at the uppermost part of the reverse top cross arm, otherwise Extremely Fine and most attractive.
