(1834) Hard Times Token Low-15, Rulau HT-28 Rarity-3. A William H. Seward political token in Brass. Sharpness Fine-15 or so but lightly cleaned a slightly glossy golden brass with steel brown highpoints. There are traces of microscopic roughness in the fields and protected areas but no verdigris. The legends are complete.

1837 Hard Times Token Low-19, Rulau HT-33 Rarity-1. NGC graded AU-58 Brown. Glossy light chocolate and medium brown with frosty luster showing through in protected areas. Just a few trivial nicks. The Rulau attribution is noted on the NGC label.

(1840) Hard Times Token Low-56, Rulau HT-75 Rarity-2. A Martin Van Buren political token in copper. Sharpness VF20 with very fine roughness covering the fields and protected areas. Shallow verdigris is crusted into protected areas on the reverse, but the legends remain easily readable. Dark steel brown and chocolate. Pierced at the top, as usual, for suspension and wear.

1840 Hard Times Token Rulau HT-815A Rarity-6. NGC graded MS-63. A political token for William Henry Harrison in white metal. Lustrous light silvery steel. Sharply struck and quite attractive, a few faint hairlines in the fields from perfect.

(1840) Hard Times Token Rulau HT-820. A political token honoring William Henry Harrison as "The Hero of Tippecanoe." Glossy light brown with chocolate in protected areas, and the color suggests this token may be brass rather than copper (although Rulau does not list this token in brass). Sharpness VF30 or slightly better with a half dozen old pinscratches on the obverse, mostly in the field right of the shoulder. Pierced at the top, as usual. The legends are complete and strong.

1841 Hard Times Token Low-60, Rulau HT-18 Rarity-1. NGC graded MS-63 Brown. A Daniel Webster/Martin Van Buren political token. Lustrous medium brown and chocolate with delicate overtones of bluish steel in protected areas. Sharply struck and void of defects. A beautiful piece.
