Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 751
Liechtenstein. Taler, 1758. Dav-1579; Cr-2; Hozm-51. Josef Wenzel. Bust right. Reverse: Crowned crest supported by angels. Only 700 pieces struck. Prooflike fields with beautiful iridescent toning, vivid with lilac and mauve hues. NGC graded MS-65 Prooflike.

A first-rate example of this tiny central European country's contribution to the standard thaler. By issuing its own coinage, Liechtenstein showed its independence and yet demonstrated its presence as a European trading partner. Few specimens exist at this quality level.
