A Charming Box in Sterling and Mother-of-Pearl. Birmingham, England, c. 1849/50. The object is shaped as a bombé desk or chest, and comprised of an exotic sea shell in a sterling frame, which forms the legs and support for the shell. Frame with typical furniture ornament, plus an integral medallion, inscribed: "To Irene, 9/8/26." Silver with Birmingham marks, dating it to mid-19th century. Triangular maker's stamp indistinct. Intact, and finely preserved. Width: 3"; Height: 2-1/4".

A Half Dozen Attractive and Ornate Goblets in Sterling. Austria or France, c. 1950's - 70's. The pieces well crafted and robust. The walls of the goblets attactively embellished with cartouches and floral swags. The cups finely preserved, showing little if any use. Foreign marks on foot of each goblet, like those seen in Austria or France. Also marked "Sterling 925/1000 Fine," along with "Schofield Co." Heights: 6-1/2". Weight: at least 1125 grams of pure silver. Lot of 6 items.

Burma. 19th Century Three Piece Inscribed Silver Tea Set. This beautiful, locally made, tea set likely dates from the second half of the 19th century. It consists of the lidded pot, 9" high by 10" wide; creamer, 5" by 6 1/2" and a sugar bowl with lid, 6" by 7". All are fully decorated with figural and natural designs including, on the larger piece, an elephant and tiger. The tea pot and sugar bowl have female and male dancers respectively, on the lid tops. In addition, the bottom of the pot with an engraved dedication panel "Presented To Revd. H.O. Wyatt, By The Members Of The English Baptist Church, Rangoon." All are in very good condition with handsome light age tone.

Elaborately Sculpted Lady's Compact, in Silver. United States, Italy, c. 1900-1930. The box square and shallow, with mirror on interior lid; the frame holding the mirror stamped, "Made in Italy, " and "800" in oval border, along with small export stamp. The outer lid with handsome open-work tracery, sculpted and incised, framing an attractive 18th century-style portrait of a pretty lady holding a circlet of flowers, painted on parchment or celluloid, the artist's signature partially hidden. Rest of box's exterior engraved with floral ornament. An eye-catching accessory, finely preserved. Size: 3" x 3".

France. Louis XV period Silver Bowl dated 1725. A decorated bowl 5 1/4" in diameter, 4" high, and 7" handle to handle, these of classical half length female forms. The bowl bottom inset with a French Ecu coin of Louis XIV of the Bayonne Mint. Along the upper lip, three large old French hallmarks and engraved date and naming as "J.B. Duc De Duras 1725". Very good condition with age appropriate age and tone.
We note that Jean Baptiste, Duke of Duras (1684-1770) was at one time a Marshal of France and Ambassador to Spain in the 1750s.

Great Britain. Handsome 18th Century Silver Tankard. A George III period tankard, 8 3/4" high and 4 3/4" at the base with a gilt interior. Decorated on the lid and body with floral designs. By William Grundy with his maker mark at bottom along with three London hallmarks for 1793-94. Just above the base in a panel, an engraved initial "E", likely for the original owner. Excellent condition with lovely light age tone and color.

Imperial Russia. A Silver and Niello Carafe dated 1874. An attractive carafe (or vase?) with architectural and floral designs, 7 3/4 inches high. Marked on the base "A.B" in oval panel, also dated 1874 with "A.C", 84 silver mark (on bottom and shoulder) and St. George on horseback spearing a dragon. Normal age wear, otehrwise very good condition.

Imperial Russia. Silver Overlay Icon by Morozov St. Petersburg. A lovely painted icon, 6.75" high by 5.75" wide, by the Morozov firm of St. Petersburg, ca. 1899-1910, with workman's initials, St. Petersburg silver mark and Morozov imprint at bottom. It depicts a religious legend portraying Mary and St. Nicholas at right, admonishing the kneeling priest at left for having improperly placed a steel cross on the church steeple, as Christ's Cross was made of wood. At upper left we see the priest holding the improper cross tumbling groundward. The beautifully designed and nicely toned silver overlay panel in relief and pierced to allow viewing of the painted areas showing the faces and hands of the figures. A handsome work in very good condition.

Judaica. Outstanding late 19th century antique silver Spice Tower. An intricate artistically made piece, 11 1/4" high, in silver and gilt silver, decorated with 23 blue cabochon stones. Complete with seven flags and six bells as made. Marked at the base "925" and at bottom with tiny impressed maker's mark consisting of a crown with 3 pellets and "SC" below. Excellent age appropriate condition.

Late 19th Century Antique Silver Semi-Nude Centerpiece. A European, likely German, export silver centerpiece of a draped semi-nude goddess holding a base above her head on which sits an etched decorated glass platter (this possibly a somewhat later replacement). Overall height 16 1/2 inches and marked on the base, crescent with dot, indistinct impressed mark, and Sterling Silver 23567. Light age appropriate wear, otherwise very good condition, nicely made and attractive.

Lot of Seven Sterling Goblets, by Watrous Manufacturing. American, Wallingford, Connecticut, c. 1950's-60's. Watrous is now a division of International Sterling. The footed goblets of plain, yet handsome construction, of medium weight sterling. A few cups with trivial faint dents, but overall look to be little used. Along with these, a similar, but in a robust, heavy guage sterling, goblet by Frank M. Whiting Co., Massachusetts, c. 1940's. Cup pristine. Heights: 6-1/2" on average. Lot of Vintage Dishes and Utensils in Sterling. Mostly American, c. 1920's - 70's. An assortment of items, from various manufacturers, including: Gorham, Watrous, Hamilton, M. Fred Hirsch, and others. About half are plates or dishes of various sizes, some with engraved initials. The rest being weighted, footed sherbet or dessert cups, a relish(?) dish, plus a small cream pitcher and more. Inspection suggested, some objects show a few trivial faint dents, and others with handling marks. A number look to be little used. Sizes:1-3/4" to 10". Weight: at least 2650 grams of pure silver. Lovely Antique English Silverplate Biscuit Jar. Late 19th-early 20th century, 9" high, 8" wide, with hinged lid. Nicely decorated in floral and geometric designs. The glass container handsomely etched and cut. On the base, four hallmarks, maker mark and workman's initials with number 2246. Lacking one easily replaceable retaining nut under the base, otherwise very good condition and most attractive.

Sterling Flatware by R. Wallace & Sons. American, Wallingford, Connecticut, c. early 20th century. Handles with elaborate Baroque design, the earliest examples marked on the reverse with, "Pat. 1895." Most engraved with gothic "H." Set of 8 dinner forks; 8 salad forks; 8 teaspoons; and 8 hollow ware dinner knives, the blades expertly replaced with stainless blades by Wallace, some time in the recent past. All this, plus a specialty spoon and knife. Also six similarly ornate broth or chowder spoons (Whiting Co., New York, NY; Pat. 1891), all engraved with cursive M. Plus other antique and vintage flatware, serving pieces, and napkin rings, plus a souvenier spoon from the St. Louis World's Fair. Worth a close look. Some tasty things here. Weight: at least 1650 grams of pure silver. Lot of 58 items.

USA. Tiffany made antique silver ancient Roman style oil lamp. Ca. 1900, measuring 5 3/8" across, lightly decorated in floral and geometric designs. Marked on the base, ""Tiffany & Co Sterling 1730/1627" and with three gothic style letters, presumeably the workman on this piece. Very good condition with age appropriate wear and tone.
