Chiang Kai-shek & Madame Chiang (1887-1975) President of the Republic of China. Signature in Chinese on a 5¾" x 3¼" card engraved "The President of the Republic of China. Very fine. With a TLS ("Mayling Soong Chiang") with holograph salutation, closing and note signed with initials ("M.S.C."), 1p, 11" x 8½", Taipei, Taiwan, 1967 Sept. 25. To Dr. Daniel A. Poling, regarding his plans to visit Taipei. She adds a note in her hand, "Would you be able to preach at our chapel on sunday morning, 8 October? M.S.C." Fine. Madame Chiang (1897-2003) was educated in America; she served as her husband's English translator, secretary, and advisor.

Very good; light toning and foxing; small paper loss in blank left margin. Matted with a lovely steel engraving and framed to an overall size of 15½" x 20".
