1812 S-290 R1 Large Date. VG-8. Slightly sharper with very fine roughness under a rather glossy dark olive and steel patina. There is a dull scratch under the chin and traces of reddish brown verdigris in a few of the protected areas on the reverse. Nothing special except for the die state, which was unknown to Breen. Both dies are heavily worn, especially the reverse, and there is a clear rim cud break at TE in UNITED. An important cent for the die state specialist.

1814 S-294 R1 Turban Head. Crosslet 4. PCGS graded AU-55. Frosty dark steel brown with lustrous light steel brown and tan faded down from mint color covering the protected areas. No spots, corrosion, or contact marks. Only a touch of light friction on the highest points of the design. LDS, Breen state II. Struck very slightly off center to K-7. EAC grade AU50 and choice.
