Lot 2070
1851 C-1 R1 Repunched 1. MS-63. Frosty mint red mellowing to light steel brown, 75% of the original color remaining. There are some microscopic specks of darker steel brown toning visible under magnification but no carbon spots or other significant distractions. Would rate a higher grade except for a few very light nicks in the field before the portrait. MDS, the repunching right of the base of the second 1 clear. A premium example of a date that seldom comes with this much original mint red.
Estimated Value $650 - 850.

1853 C-1 R1. MS-64. Lustrous mint red toning to steel brown, about half the original red remaining. No spots or stains. The surfaces are satiny and the eye appeal is outstanding. EAC grade MS63 with excellent eye appeal for the grade. The attribution is noted on the NGC label.
Estimated Value $500 - 750.

Lot 2079
1857 C-1 R2. NGC graded MS-62 Brown. Steel brown and chocolate. No defects. The strike and fields have some characteristics of a proof strike rather than a normal business strike. The rims are squared, the obverse fields are reflective, the reverse fields are very slightly reflective and covered with microscopic die polishing lines, and the reverse shows strike doubling over most of the legend and dentils. The proof characteristics are not convincing enough to say this piece is indeed a proof, but it is at least a very early business strike with exceptional eye appeal for the grade. EAC grade consistent with the slab grade.
Estimated Value $400 - 600.
