A boldly original example with deep embossing and outstanding colors, this Treasury Ace is also well centered and has broad margins on both sides. A very minor spot of slight yellowing is noticed in the lower left corner and is mentioned for accuracy only.

1890, $5 Coin Note. CGA Gem Uncirculated 65. . Fr-359. . KL-253. This Fancy Back Treasury Five has good color and eye appeal, and is held back from a higher grade by margins that are not as broad as some we've seen on this design type. However a more desirable note in the hobby at the moment may not exist. We witnessed firsthand a similar note in the same assigned grade RCGS 65 realise $14K plus the 15 percent buyer's fee.

1890, $5 Coin Note. PCGS Apparent Extremely Fine 40, Margin Restored at Bottom Right. . Fr-359. . KL-253. This fancy back Treasury Five is attractive and boldly colored, and has a few light folds. A small filled-in margin repair is evident at the bottom right, and was expertly executed as the restoration is evident only after close inspection.

There are no visible flaws, and this example appears to be ideal for any collector who is finicky with quality. This is a scarce type in high grades, and is seldom seen much finer.
