  Veidt, Conrad (1893-1943) German-born actor. Veidt appeared in the landmark Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Germany's first talkie Das Land Ohne Frauen; he fled the country in 1933 after Hitler's election. Remembered by American audiences for his portrayal of "Strasser" in Casablanca (his last role). Sepia tone Photographic Postcard Signed across the lower edge of the waist-length portrait, n.p., n.d. 5 x 3 in. Fine.

Williams, Hank Sr (1923-1953) Legendary country music star. 12"x9" Page Signed and Inscribed, "Thanks and Best Wishes Hank Williams," written in blue ink. Very good. The picture of Williams, his wife, daughter, and son is titled "An Evening At Home With The Williams Family" and is on the front of a page of sheet music from "Dear Brother."

Ziegfeld, Florenz (1867-1932) Founder of the Ziegfeld Follies. Typed Letter Signed "Flo" on red-bordered Ziegfeld Follies stationery, 2pp, 10½x8', New York, 16 Aug. 1926. Fine; minor marks at top. To Jesse Laskey, Famous Players, Hollywood, marked "Personal and Confidential." Ziegfeld expresses his disappointment in a picture Von Stroheim was making; although "a great director" who is "always good when he puts on a uniform," Von Stroheim's picture was "very German" (written in Ziegfeld's hand), too slow, etc. Ziegfeld wants Clara Bow for the picture. Excellent content concerning the future of musical entertainment in moving picture houses.

Most are on 3" x 5" cards; two are on small memo pages, and Carmen Miranda signed a 1947 ticket to a Chicago Federation of Labor event at Soldier Field. One item is inscribed to "The Autograph Club"; five items are inscribed to Bruce (Newton), a pioneer Chicago television personality and puppeteer. All fine or very good.
