1785 Nova Constellatio Crosby 4-D Rarity-5 VF20. Type with pointed rays. Mostly glossy olive brown with medium brown toning on the highpoints creating an attractive two-tone look that accents the details. There is some dark crud caked into the protected areas and the surfaces are not perfectly smooth, but the eye appeal is still quite nice for the grade. Sharply and evenly struck early die state.

1785 Nova Constellatio Crosby 4-D Rarity-5 VF20. Type with pointed rays. Attractive glossy chocolate and medium brown. A dull rim nick on either side of JUS in JUSTITIA are the only notable marks. Late die state with strong die swelling under STIT with weaker swelling around the reverse legend. Another nice example of this tough variety.

1785 Nova Constellatio Crosby 5-E Rarity-3 VF25. Type with pointed rays. Mostly glossy mottled mix of medium brown, chocolate, and olive brown. There is some very fine crud or verdigris dusted into the protected areas and some tiny planchet chips around the script US inside the wreath. Struck very slightly off center to the bottom leaving the base of the date tight to the rim and the top of NOVA off the planchet on the reverse.

1785 Nova Constellatio. . Crosby 4-C Rarity-6 F15. Type with pointed rays. Five points sharper with traces of shallow verdigris in protected areas of the obverse while the reverse is choice. The obverse is a glossy mottled mix of chocolate, olive, and reddish brown. The reverse is a more attractive glossy medium brown and chocolate with specks of darker olive toning. A decent example of this rare die variety.
