1937 Roanoke Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-67. Vivid multi-color toning on both sides. The surfaces glisten with resplendent satiny luster and a range of colors that will make your head spin. Even the finest, most delicate detail seen on this commemorative issue of 1937 struck with uncommon exactness for the Roanoke type; best of all, the design centers are as sharp as the lettering and outer areas, which is a significant bonus for the buyer (PCGS # 9367) .

Lot 3267
1937 Roanoke Half Dollar. NGC graded MS-66. Old holder. Lovely shades of gold and green toning. A problem-free coin bursting with luster, vivid and colorful in appearance. What's more, the surfaces acquit themselves nicely in terms of the fewness of marks. This is a well-struck example with good details as well. It has no bothersome abrasions or points of weakness on the central design.

The occasion for this coin was the 350th anniversary of the so-called Lost Colony formed by Sir Walter Raleigh. It is said that the obverse portrait for the coin was taken from Errol Flynn, one of the most popular cinema figures of the 1930s. Raleigh was an English adventurer and writer, who was prominent at the court of Queen Elizabeth I, and became an explorer of the Americas. He sailed for America in 1578.
Estimated Value $575 - 625.

1925 Vancouver Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-65. Mostly white with a hint of gold toning near the edges. A fresh and original Gem that has radiant snow white originality as described. Struck with systematic exactness throughout the portrait of a gentleman by the name of McLoughlin, there is no need to ignore the central part of the portrait and coat, nor the standing figure on the reverse, where a somewhat rounded impression is often left by the dies. This coin is decidedly bold in the centers. Only 14,994 minted. Pop 580; 279 finer. (PCGS # 9399) .
