1783 Chalmers Annapolis Shilling. Short worm. NGC graded VF-25. Even wear. Struck by one of the Maryland silversmiths of the post Revolutionary period, this is the "Birds" shilling with short worm variety, Breen-1011, in which the hedge in the design extends between the two N's of the motto. Scarce in all grades, it has light gray patina deepening to darker "old silver" color around the margins. A few fine old hairlines under the hands. Pop 5; 2 better by NGC.
