Lot 4383
1923, $10 United States Note. . Fr-123. . KL-389. Extremely fresh white paper with vibrant red overprint. A bold note, well centered without the least little problem of any sort. The 1923 series was printed for a short while only, to be surplanted by the small size Red Seals of the 1928 series. This final type of the Ten Dollar Legals is the scarcest of the twentieth-century Large Size personality types. CGA graded Gem Uncirculated 65.

Lot 4384
1863, $20 United States Note. . Fr-126b. A fresh crisp Gem example of an 1863 Legal Tender Twenty. The note is totally free of the splits and edge problems that plague these early weak-paper issues. The surfaces are original, bright and white, while the colors are 100% fully bright. The margins, which are often a problem on this series, are complete on all sides and although tight, they provide a nice frame around the central design. This is a very challenging Type to find in top grade, and this example comes extremely close to being a "finest known" Gem. CGA graded Gem Crisp Uncirculated 66.

Lot 4385
1875, $20 United States Note. PCGS Superb Gem New 67PPQ. . Fr-129. . KL-528. A very attractive example of a type that does come rather nice on occasion. Just the same, unlike most of this number, this one is not printed on the paper with heavy blue anti-counterfeiting stain. This one features the paper with a heavy profusion of blue fibers at the right end of the back as its active anti-counterfeiting device. A pristine note no matter how judge it, and aesthetically pleasing. Pop 2; none finer.

Fr-156. 1880, $50 United States Note. . Fr-156. . KL-676. CGA Fine 15, Repaired. Less than a dozen and a half examples are known of this rare Fr. number, and a few of those are permanently ensconsed in institutional collections. This note is low grade and has a number of repairs along the edges and internally, but it undoubtedly looks far better than it did before the restoration. Rare in any grade, and likely one of the few opportunities many collectors will ever have to own an affordable example of this rare number.
Estimated Value $2,500 - 4,500.
