Lot 85		Collection of Generals. Thirteen 8" x 10" Photographs Signed and Inscribed, most to Major Bob Kelso. All are in uniform and most wear full sets of ribbon bars. They include Bruce C. Clarke, Jacob L. Devers, Alvin L. Gorby, Edward Bautz, Jr. (2), Hal C. Pattison, C.P. St. John, Martin Griffin, Thomas Hartford, I.D. White (2-1smeared), a French general and one illegible name. Lot 86		Hardy, Sir Thomas M. Flag captain of the H.M.S. Victory during the Battle of Trafalgar with Admiral Horatio Nelson on board; he was with Nelson when he died. Autograph Letter Signed "T.M. Hardy,"1½pp (1p both sides), 7x4½", Greenwich Hospital, 3 May 1839. Fine; glue remnants at one margin, easily matted out. To his father, regretting that he does not feel well enough to dine with him and meet the members of the Book Reading Society. Matted and shrink-wrapped with an engraving of Hardy, a color copy of the front of the letter and a small image of Nelson. Estimated Value $250 - 300. View details and enlarged photo	Realized $184
Lot 87		Patton, George (1885-1945) American general and tank commander, known as "Old Blood and Guts"; considered one of the greatest military leaders in history. Autograph Letter Signed "George," on United States Military Academy stationery, 6pp, 6½x5", West Point, New York, 21 Aug. 1904. Fine; one faint spot below the signature. To his mother, in part: "I got your letter from Edinburgh…it must be live to see the 42nd drill. I wish I were an Englishman so that I could enter it and wear kilts and a bear-skin hat. The uniforms in our army are getting worse every year…." He describes activities at the Academy, the money he is making ($52 per month) and tells his mother not to buy him anything "besides the sword you got in France…." Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,500. Lot 88		Patton, George S. Autograph Letter Signed "George S. Patton Jr." 8pp, 6½x5", n.p., 19 Oct. 1909. Fine; a couple of minor soiled spots. Written to his mother during his last year at West Point. In part: "…I am a hell of a sport when I go to stables I dress up in my good clothes put on my new gauntletts and carry my swager [sic] stick…I hope my dressing counts…." He recounts a trip to the theatre, a "violent flirtation," and being on guard duty and giving "a poor buck six months in the mill 'jail' I inspected and found him asleep on post….I looked up all the old regulations and had them inforced apparently for the first time in months…." Lot 89		Wellesley, Arthur - Duke of Wellington (1769-1852) English soldier and statesman. Autograph Note Signed in the text, 1p, 7x4½, London, 30 Jan. 1810. Fine except for uneven left margin. "The Duke of Wellington presents his compliments to Messr. Bron and has received their Letter of the 2d Inst…." Shrink-wrapped with a color image to a color backboard.
