Lot 3265
1966, $100 Legal Tender Note. . Fr-1550. . KL-2745. Red Seal Note. Only 1, 2, 5 and 100 Dollar notes have been issued. Of these, the 1, 2 and 5 Dollar United States Notes are now obsolete and only the 100 Dollar notes are still current. The Act of May 3, 1878 decreed that the amount of United States Notes outstanding must be maintained at $346,681,016, and the requirement is being satisfied through circulation of the 100 dollar note.

Until the series of 1963, the obligation is as follows, "The United States of America will pay to the bearer on demand Dollars This note is a legal tender at its face value for all debts public and private." With the 1963 & 1966 series, the "will pay to the bearer on demand" clause was dropped from the obligation and the legal tender clause was changed to read, "This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private."
Estimated Value $150 - 200.
