1925-D $2.50 Indian. PCGS graded MS-63. Nice lightly toned coin. This example is quite pleasing with good luster and splashes of reddish-gold patina on each side from the 10% copper alloy in the precious 90% gold. In more respects than one, the dies left their rigid impression behind with only the slightest weakness or imprecision, only a few are ever found this way. Sharp, even at the centers (PCGS # 7949) .

In that year, to give readers a sense of what $2.50 in gold would buy, a brand new copy of "Jefferson" by Albert Jay Nock, hardbound with paper dust covers, retailed for $2.75 (PCGS # 7950) .

Regarding this date, the clearest details are found mainly in the peripheral areas, while the centers are somewhat weak as noted in ruffles of the Indian's war bonnet near the braid and a couple of the lower feather ends (these latter are opposite a high point of the reverse). Choice and frosty (PCGS # 7953) .
