1882, $5 National Bank Note. Fr-467. Great bank title, and a fun name for non-New Yorkers to try to pronounce. Wide at the top, left and right, while barely touching the design in one area along the bottom. Fancy bank name fonts used on this one. As the tradition was in those days, like kids with a new set of printing blocks, the Bureau of Engraving used a different font for each line in the title: THE / FALLKILL / NATIONAL BANK OF / POUGHKEEPSIE / FIVE DOLLARS / NEW YORK. A total of two $5 brown backs known on Poughkeepsie #659. PCGS graded Fine 15.

Poughkeepsie is known as the Queen City on the Hudson. Its logo is a beehive with many bees buzzing around. The country was divided into several large districts to aid in sorting. This devices occurs only for a few years before it was dropped. Later, in 1913-35, the National Banking System was slowly folded into the Federal Reserve Bank System, with bank note clearing no longer necessary. PCGS graded Very Good 10.

Dakota was named for the Dakota, Sioux tribe which lived in the region. Dakota is the Sioux word for "friends" or "allies."North Dakota's nickname is rather curiously The Peace Garden State. (This name commemorates the International Peace Garden on North Dakota's border with Manitoba, Canada. The International Peace Garden was dedicated on July 14, 1932.) Also popularly known as the Sioux State. PCGS graded Very Good 10.
