1913 $20 St. Gaudens. PCGS graded MS-63. The Philadelphia Mint produced only 168,838 coins in 1913 and mint state survivors are scarce to mildly rare up to the MS63 grade. In gem condition, the 1913 double eagle is a serious rarity and is seldom seen. A rich yellow gold example with shimmering frosty and microgranular surfaces. The entire coin is very clean for the grade and the only prominent marks to note are a diagonal tick on Liberty's left arm near elbow and another at the top of the eagle's wings on the reverse. PCGS has graded 235 in MS-63, 122 in MS-64 and 6 in MS-65 as the finest (PCGS # 9161) .
Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,000.

1913-D $20 St. Gaudens. PCGS graded MS-64. An absolutely beautiful and untouched example of this issue. Rich orange gold coloration with gem quality luster and surfaces. Obverse strike quality is fantastic with the lower portion of the gown appearing almost in high relief and the Capitol building bold in definition. In an old green holder (PCGS # 9162) .
Estimated Value $1,400 - 1,500.

Splendid 1913-S $20 St. Gaudens. PCGS graded MS-64. The 1913-S double eagle has the third lowest mintage figure from this series yet, as is the case with mintage figure/rarity ratios of this time period, it is only a moderate rarity in terms of the total known. With that said, the significance of a near-gem and completely original 1913-S double eagle is a whole other ball game. Noted gold specialist David Akers gave this issue a High Rarity-6 ranking at the MS-64 grade level. Virtually non-existent in gem condition, any gold dealer or collector will appreciate the rich rose-gold coloration and superb surfaces of the present offering. No spots exist anywhere on this beauty. Luster rolls up Liberty's legs, gown and across the eagle's entire portrait and original mint frost is still located in recessed areas. Housed in an old PCGS green label holder. PCGS population of 346 in MS-64, 13 in MS-65 and 1 in MS-66 as the finest (PCGS # 9163) .
Estimated Value $5,000 - 6,000.

Wonderful 1913-S $20 St. Gaudens. PCGS graded MS-64. A better date Saint Gaudens in a conditionally rare state. Well struck with original coloration. Only a few ticks are keeping this appealing near-gem example from a grade higher, most notably a tick in the ray just below the branch end and another in the right field. Anyone searching for a solid example of this rarity in high grade will most likely have to settle for a MS-64 since gems are almost unheard of. PCGS population of 346 in MS-64, 13 in MS-65 and 1 in MS-66 (PCGS # 9163) .
Estimated Value $5,000 - 6,000.

1913-S $20 St. Gaudens. PCGS graded MS-63. A scarce issue that can be misleading with regards to rarity due to its tiny mintage of only 34,000. While the '13-S does have one of the smallest mintages of the Saint Gaudens double eagles, it is more common than some of the multi-million mintage issues from the 1920's-1930's that experienced heavy melting. It is significantly more rare than other San Francisco issues of this time frame, for example the 1915 and 1916 issues. The present piece is very choice and displays silky gold surfaces with nice luster (PCGS # 9163) .
Estimated Value $3,000 - 3,500.

1913-S $20 St. Gaudens. PCGS graded MS-61 PQ. Frosty golden fields with vibrant luster. A patch of light scuff marks in the upper left field that are very shallow. Luster travels up Liberty's leg and across gown. The sun on the reverse has a few marks but the eagle is mark free and frosty. Choice and original (PCGS # 9163) .
Estimated Value $1,200 - 1,300.

1914 $20 St. Gaudens. NGC graded MS-63. An undervalued issue, this particular coin choice for the grade. Only 95,320 were produced at the Philadelphia Mint in 1914 and today survivors are much tougher to locate in choice uncirculated grades than many people realize. Aside from a short tick on Liberty's lower leg, this example has the eye appeal of a near-gem coin.
Estimated Value $1,300 - 1,500.

1914 $20 St. Gaudens. PCGS graded MS-62 PQ. Lovely golden surfaces with deeper orange highlights. The surfaces are much more pristine than normally seen on MS-62 examples. An under valued date that is often eclipsed by other low mintage Philadelphia issues (PCGS # 9164) .
Estimated Value $650 - 750.
