Lot 1280
1881 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-64 PQ. A pure white and prooflike example of this low mintage Seated half dollar, 10,975 business strikes produced. Deeply reflective fields contrast a thickly frosted Liberty that appears to be of gem quality. Obverse and reverse quality is matched and the eye appeal of this coin is absolutely stunning. Many would think this specimen was a proof were it not for the faint die file lines in the denticles above ERIC of AMERICA, a diagnostic for this business strike issue. While the 1881 is not nearly as available as the 1879, high grade examples were saved during the time of issue. That said, gem examples are still rare and an example as choice as the present piece is seldom seen. Housed in an old PCGS green label holder.
Estimated Value $1,200 - 1,400.

1883 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-64. Semi-prooflike fields are watery and choice. Both obverse and reverse surfaces have a very light original transparent film on them. 1885 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-64. Another choice example of a low mintage issue, only 6,130 business strikes being produced. Lot 1287
1887 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-64. Deeply mirrored fields are pure white except for some light champagne toning nestled around the stars on both obverse and reverse. Original mint frost and satiny, lustrous fields are just a few of the fantastic qualities of this piece. On the reverse, we do note some light hairlines in the fields but they are shallow and obviously from one quick wipe. A near-cameo coin with a high level of eye appeal. Only 5,710 business strikes were issued and this issue is quite scarce in the near-gem condition. PCGS population of 24 in MS-64 with 35 finer. Housed in an old PCGS green label holder (PCGS # 6369) .
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,100.

Lot 1290
Brilliant Ultra Cameo 1890 Superb Gem Half Dollar. NGC graded Proof 67 Ultra Cameo. Be prepared to make a visit to your ophthalmologist after viewing this bad boy! Blast white proof surfaces shift from their "black ended" state to fully brilliant mirrors. Liberty and the eagle stand out defiantly against the fields and neither display a single mark. For the sake of identification, several tiny planchet imperfections can be pointed out. The first is a short lint mark right of star 2 near the forearm. Secondly, a shallow planchet flake is noted at the upper left of U of UNITED and right of the last A of AMERICA near the border. Only 25 With Motto Seated half dollars, 1866-1891, have ever been given the Ultra Cameo designation by NGC! The present specimen is spectacular and pristine. While a Proof 68 graded by NGC is technically the finest example known, this beauty is unquestionably one of the finest 1890 proof half dollars in existence. NGC population of 2 with none finer in PF-67 UCAM.
Estimated Value $6,500 - 7,500.
