1889-CC Morgan Dollar. AU-55. A rather impressive example of this "key" date Dollar. At first glance, this coin appears to be Uncirculated, especially on the attractively toned, silver-rose reverse. However, at just the right angle, hairlines can be seen on the obverse surfaces, indicating an old light cleaning. Even so, knocking this down to the AU-55 level is a grave injustice, as we've seen lots of baggy Uncirculated examples of this date that are nowhere near as nice or attractive. Certainly, they shouldn't be any more valuable than this one. This coin has lots of "meat" and should fetch a justifiably strong bid simply because so many collectors are looking for a nice, affordable, high-grade example of this date.
Estimated Value $7,000 - 9,000.
