Mrs. Bush, who was a champion of the national literacy movement, spoke at the dedication of the postal card. She signed in blue ink below her printed name. Extremely Fine.

Coolidge, Grace (1879-1957) First Lady. White House Card Signed, n.p., n.d. Elaborately matted with a color image of the First Lady in front of the White House with her dog, and a plaque with her birth and death dates, framed to an overall size of 20½ x 23½ in. Very Fine.

Lincoln, Mary Todd (1818-1882) First Lady; married Abraham Lincoln in 1842. Autograph Letter Signed, Executive Mansion, no date (c. 1861-65), 1 pg., 4½ x 3 7/8 in.Written on light brown paper to Mrs. Lester. In full: "Executive Mansaion / Mrs. Lester - I would be very much pleased to see you at the house this evening. Mr. Lincoln will be with us. Very truly / Mary Lincoln." An old marginal chip affected the top of the "g" in "evening" and a horizontal tear, repaired by archivally backing the letter, ran through the tops of two letters and two words in one line of text. Minor soiling; a light red pencil notation on verso does not show through. Overall Very Good.

Reagan, Nancy (1921 -) First Lady of Ronald Reagan, 40th President. Photograph Signed and Inscribed ("To my Y & H with love Nancy"), no place, no date, 10 x 8 in. "Y & H" was the Reagans' nickname for James Brady, who was appointed President Reagan's press secretary in January 1981. The image shows Nancy Reagan and Brady outdoors, with Brady wearing equestrian gear. Pristine condition. On March 31, 1981, Brady was shot in the head during John Hinckley's attempted assassination of President Reagan. After leaving the White House, Brady and his wife Sarah founded Handgun Control to lobby for stronger gun-control laws. On November 30, 1993, President Clinton signed the "Brady Bill" into law.
