Egypt. Cleopatra VII, 51-30 BC. AE 27. Diademed and draped bust right of Cleopatra. Reverse: Eagle standing left; in lower left field, cornucopiae; in upper right field, mark of value (80 bronze drachmai, the equivalent to a silver obol). Includes an old collectors round. Svoronos 1871. Mostly red patina, with an excellent portrait of this historical queen. Fine or better.

Kyrenaika. Kyrene, c. 322-308 BC. Gold Stater (8.6 g). Scarce. Nike driving slow quadriga right; ethnic above. Reverse: Zeus-Ammon standing left with scepter, holding phiale over thymiaterion; ΠOΛIANΘEYΣ at right. BMC p. 29, 118. Well struck up. Light scuff over body of rearmost horse, otherwise a pleasing example of this type. Near Extremely Fine.

Kyrenaika signed a treaty with Alexander the Great in 331 BC., after which it produced a steady stream of Attic weight gold staters. The magistrate Polianthes coined along with two other magistrates, Cychaeris and Chaeris. Die linkages and stylistic comparisons place their magistracy after the death of Alexander.

Kyrenaika. Kyrene, under Ptolemy I, c. 322-313 BC. Gold Stater (8.6 g). Nike driving quadriga left, star above; ethnic flanking. Reverse: Zeus-Ammon enthroned left, holding scepter, eagle behind; magistrate's name at left. SNG cop. 1197. Obverse die a little worn; the reverse die showing some rust and a little flaking. Nevertheless, an interesting coin and rare.

Siculo-Punic. Time of the First Punic War, 264-260 BC. AR Five Shekels - Dekadrachm (36.5 g). Very Rare. Head of Tanit left, hair wreathed in grains. Reverse: Pegasus flying right; Punic legend below, "B'RST." Jenkins, cf. no. 445; SNG Fitzwilliam 1512. Some smoothing to surfaces. A few of what appear to ancient scratches. Nevertheless an attractive example of this large and impressive denomination. Choice Very Fine.
