Lot 1300
1907 $20 St. Gaudens. High relief, Roman numerals, wire rim. PCGS graded MS-64 PQ. Rich golden-orange mint bloom color with strong luster on both sides. The strike is quite full, with mountainous details on even the tiniest devices. The face, hands and toes of Liberty are complete and strong. As we know, each of these coins had to be struck several times to bring up the high relief, with the final few strikes needed just to fill in the highest details on Liberty and the eagle's huge wings. Worth a premium for its very clean surfaces and abundant eye appeal (PCGS # 9135) .
Estimated Value $14,000 - 16,000.

Lot 1301
1907 $20 St. Gaudens. High relief, Roman numerals, wire rim. PCGS graded MS-63. A choice, brilliant example struck in a beautiful, yellow-orange color. Very nicely detailed, with no breaks in the luster even on the highest points. A wonderful expression of the designer's vision.

From the CoinFacts.com website: "The 1907 High Relief $20 Gold Piece was designed by the noted American sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens at the request of President Theodore Roosevelt. 'High Relief' refers to the depth of the details which, on this coin, are much deeper than usual, giving the coin an impressive medallic appearance. 'High Reliefs' come in several varieties: the extremely rare Ultra-High Relief and the more common Flat Rim and Knife (or Wire) Rim variants. Saint-Gaudens' obverse design was considered so beautiful and so popular that it was re-used on the gold bullion coins struck by the U.S. Mint beginning in 1986."
Estimated Value $12,000 - 14,000.
