Lot 2697		1921 Alabama Half Dollar, with 2 x 2. NGC graded MS-66. Awash in bright luster and well struck too, with no signs of toning on either side. This one is quite sharp, and a glass really shows how superb the surfaces are when closely examined. Note that this issue was struck in 1921, long before there were large numbers of serious collectors, and hence most were mishandled over the generations. This particular one remains as fresh and bright as the day it was coined. NGC has graded only 12 this high, with none graded higher. Always in strong demand for the 2X2 in the right obverse field, and very difficult to find in anything even approaching gem grades. Estimated Value $3,000 - 3,500. Lot 2698		1921 Alabama Half Dollar, no 2 x 2. PCGS graded MS-65. Greatly enhanced by blue, green and gold peripheral toning on both sides, with gold towards the center. Lot 2701		1938-D Arkansas Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-66. Satiny luster and well preserved, we note just a couple of minor ticks on the obverse, one in the field before the chief's eye, another at the lower end of the plain cap. Light gold around the periphery, but generally white in color. PCGS has graded a mere 36 this high, with only 7 graded higher, all MS-67 above. Estimated Value $1,800 - 2,200. Lot 2703		1939 Arkansas Half Dollar. The 1939 is NGC graded MS-65, the 1939-D is PCGS graded MS-65 and the 1939-S is NGC graded MS-64. Each shows light golden flecks of toning on each side, mostly on the reverse, while the obverses tend towards bright silvery white. Lot 2704		1925 California Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-66 Premium Quality. An especially bright and flashy example, and hence deserves a premium. As to the grade, well, MS-66 certainly says a lot, but this one seems to push that number. Take a moment to examine the pristine surfaces and not the absence of bagmarks or other detriments. Then notice how sharply the devices are struck and the exceptional quality overall. PCGS has graded 180 his high with just 61 graded higher. Estimated Value $1,250-UP. Lot 2707		1893 Columbian Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-65. This one is really a gem, not only are the surfaces pristine, but they are enhanced by glowing blue and gold toning at the periphery, while the centers are a satiny gray gold. The toning is seen on both sides, and the surfaces are quite alluring. PCGS has graded only 289 this high, with 64 higher of the date. Estimated Value $500-UP. Lot 2717		1921 Missouri Half Dollar, 2 x 4. PCGS graded MS-64. With a mintage of only 5,000 pieces, the Missouri 2 x 4 has always been scarce, especially in this near gem grade. On this particular coin we note lovely rich golden toning on the obverse with lilac hues intermixed at the center, while the reverse tends to be brighter with light peripheral toning at the base.
